I am an international students and I wanted to know when should I apply to external scholarships, in Feb. itself or after admissions.
If I apply now and I’m not admitted anywhere then it will be a waste of time and money and they might also ask where I’m admitted. But if I apply late then deadlines of some may have been crossed.
So what should I do? (I know that even some of the assumptions above are wrong)

Do it now! You will have no way to know your net cost before making a matriculation decision if you wait until AFTER your acceptances. Most scholarships do NOT have an application FEE. Think about it…they are awards to help pay costs, not collect money.

This is extremely important for international students. You will have to complete a certification of finances that states that you HAVE the funds to support yourself completely here…in order to gain a visa to study here. This can include approved loans as well as awarded financial aid and scholarships.

So can you give a few names for Indian students?

Most outside scholarships HERE are NOT for international students. Your best bet is to look for scholarships in your country. Maybe (but not likely) you will find something that you can get that can be used in schools outside of India.

There is a forum on CC for internationals from India. Perhaps you can get more info there.

On another thread elsewhere on this forum, the op says he cannot pay more than $6000 a year for college. OP, your best aid will come directly from the colleges themselves, outside scholarships are typically not huge, and also many are for one year only.
