When to buy stuff for college?

OK. I know I’m late to the party but can someone tell me when would be a good time to purchase things needed for college? I was thinking about buying things now but if there are annual sales on some of these things, that would help. For instance, I know I’m late (or early, depending on your POV) for the white sales for sheets but what about the other things a college freshman may need?

Specifically- mini frig, sheets, storage things, etc.

If you have brand names or sizes preferred (from experience) that would help too.

thanks in advance for your ideas.

You might make a list. Products go on sale throughout the summer. We bought a mini-fridge and microwave at Target in May for summer school because DD’s roommate had rented one.

You will also find sheets and towels on sale periodically. Bed, Bath, and Beyond has 20% off coupons if you have one in your area.

We also boughtthe Rubbermaid storage boxes to take things to college. They stack really nice and hold a lot.

Good luck with the hunt.

There are tons of sales throughout the summer aimed specifically at college students (or their parents  ). Don’t worry about missing the “annual sales”!

Those BB & B coupons don’t expire even though they have an expiration date printed on them.

We found lots of stuff at Target as well. We bought sheets from Macy’s last summer (on sale & had a coupon).

Last summer The Container Store ran a shopping night for college bound freshmen (different dates at different stores), with refreshments and a nice discount applied to all purchases (I picked up a few things for myself, too, while D browsed), and when you checked out you got a coupon that extended the discount for another month or so. They have some nifty stuff, so if there’s one near you, you might want to contact them to see if they’re doing it again this summer. It was a madhouse of 18 year olds and moms, but kind of fun as everyone chatted about college destinations.
