when to send in reply forms?

My son is starting to narrow down his choices. Three schools he’s decided not to attend offered significant merit scholarships. One he replied to long ago because he was a finalist for an even larger scholarship there and he didn’t want to apply for that, knowing he wouldn’t be attending. I suggested he reply to the other 2 now, in case that would make the merit money available to someone else before they have to make their decision. Just yesterday I was reading a thread by a Dad who’s son had suddenly gotten unexpected merit money and I wondered if it was because someone had turned down a scholarship. The reply forms all ask where you plan to attend and my son doesn’t know that yet. Is it better to reply now and just say “undecided”?

Great question; my daughter is in the same position. Will probably let a few schools know now so they can free up the merit money she got for someone else.

If he really wants to be considerate, he could always reply now and write down “undecided” and then email them later as to his final decison to use for their records.

I think that’s what I’ll suggest he do. Thanks!
