when to start/other questions

Hi, I’m a soph and been hearing a lot of different things when it comes to studying for the SATs/ACT–summer from soph to junior year, not at all for the first time (i don’t get), 1 month, 2 months, ect. What is the “best” time in your opinion? Also–does the PSAT count for anything other the scholarship opportunities? like if i bomb it would that affect me in any way? Last question- in my opinion i am a very good studier (word?) for tests and stuff, but im not very “smart” (i am, but i usually have to work like 10x harder than everyone else) so my question is do the sat/act prep books have EVERYTHING that’s in the sat/act, or is a lot of it just prior knowledge? Sorry for the long post-thanks for any answers!

please? anyone?

Prior knowledge helps, but the questions on any SAT or ACT you take aren’t going to directly relate to any questions on prior tests. Some question structures stay the same and what’s being tested won’t ever change significantly, but the SAT and ACT test more for one’s ability to reason than one’s prior knowledge.
