When to submit a transfer application

Should I even start on my transfer application to the ivies (I’ll be attending UF in the Fall)? I had great SAT scores (2300+) and I was accepted into some ivies, but didn’t go. I want to know what all I should do if I want to transfer to a school for the fall of next year (as in 08-09).

I don’t have any college ECs or any college transcripts. So what should I do?

It depends if the colleges have rolling applications or not. If they have rolling apps (which ivy’s dont) then you want to apply as soon as the applications come out. If they have a deadline all you have to do is send in your application before the deadline… although procrastination is not the key to applications :)

Non-rolling schools tend not to even look at transfer apps until after the submission deadline (sometimes well after), as they are slammed with freshman admissions until that time.

If you submit “early,” it is possible you can get early notice of whether elements of your app are missing, but - again - many of these schools don’t even start to process transfer apps until near or after the deadline.

Spend your fall term enjoying your current school, doing well and getting to know a couple of profs well enough that you will get good recommendations.

Agreed. Don’t wait till the last minute to start, but you can wait until a day or so out form the deadline to click submit. I submitted 24-hours out so that I could confirm the payment/app went through, but if you do it online it’s pretty painless. Colleges will let you know if they’re missing something (as long as its not the actual app) and will give you time to fix everything, since most deadlines are late February, March 1, or late March. Colleges are still dealing with the tens of thousands of freshmen applying during then, so transfers get somewhat of a leeway, just in case.

You submit them…when they are due.

You’re an idiot ClaySoul. A true idiot.

LMAO- I would have said the same thing. Maybe you should have asked ‘When do i start working on my transfer application.’- something like that.

what are you talking about calculus?

You clearly don’t submit the applications now, no matter how much you want to. You submit them WHEN THEY ARE DUE.

You don’t do ANYTHING until you HAVE a college transcript and college ecs.

I would make a strong case for you being the idiot on this one.

ClaySoul’s comment doesn’t make him an idiot if you aren’t dealing with rolling applications. It doesn’t matter when you turn in applications from a school if they have a deadline. As long as it is there (or postmarked in some cases) by the due date you are fine. You should start working on the app asap to make it perfect. Rolling apps should be turned in as soon as they come out though.
