when to take sat 2s

im a junior right now and im just wondering when do students take the sat 2s usually for ED and RD.

Students usually take SAT 2s near the end of the corresponding course. It’s beneficial to take them in advance of admissions deadlines but with enough class under your belt to do well on the test.

A quote from the college board website:

“For the SAT Subject Tests™, most students take them toward the end of their junior year or at the beginning of their senior year. In general, you should take tests such as World History, Biology E/M, Chemistry or Physics as soon as possible after completing the course in the subject. Students tend to do better on other tests like languages after at least two years of study.”

For EA/ED, I think you should plan on taking the bulk of your desired SAT Subject tests by the end of your junior year. Not all subject tests are offered on all SAT test dates. And there’s a big break in the summer, as I recall, with no SAT test dates at all. I knew just where to find this info on the old college board website, but they have a brand new website now and I can’t find test dates past this current school year. The new site shows test dates up to something like June 5th, 2010. Well, I’m not entirely positive because I can’t find it this morning, but I think certain subject tests aren’t offered again until October. October might be pushing it for some EA/ED deadlines. That’s why I would personally consider the end of your junior year as your personal deadline, as long as you’ve already covered the appropriate course material.

Good luck with everything!

I would just like to add that taking the SAT II in may is more beneficial than in june.
everyone will be trying to take the SAT II so the curve will be smaller.
But in May, everyone will be taking their first or second SAT I. So for you the curve will be larger.
Hope this helps.
