…(3) Please write on a topic of your choice.
If an essay question for another college piqued your interest, feel free to submit your response to that question. Please limit your submission to one page, or approximately 500 words.

…You don’t have to actually find another college’s essay question to write about, right? I’m assuming you can write about anything that comes to mind.

Yes, you can write about anything that comes to mind. However, I’ve seen it suggested that you have a topic or question at the top of your essay that COULD HAVE been a nomothetic essay question.

For example, if you write your essay about how when you’re driving through your neighborhood you find yourself noticing the trash on the ground more so than you think other people notice it and you want to clean up the world and such, you could put as the “topic” of your topic-of-your-choice essay: If you could change one thing about the world, what would it be? And then you can go on to discuss changing the environment.

I don’t know if that made any sense to you or not. Basically, go ahead and write about anything you want, but invent a sort of general question that the essay could fit with and put that at the top.
