When, why and how.

Which should I do, the SAT II’s with the ACT or SAT II’s with the SAT? I hate mathematics and I’m going into Year 12 this September (Grade 11) to study four rigorous AS Levels. I am looking to do history or something closely related, at an Ivy League… possibly Harvard.

When should I sign up for these and sit them? I don’t really understand how they work to be honest, I’ve read through their sites and it’s a little confusing.

I’m a UK student and I’ll appreciate all responses.

Get your hands on a practice book for each and see which one you do better on or prefer. Do a practice test and compare results (you can borrow it from a library if you don’t want to order it) Time yourself. Then based on that, practice rigorously for the one you want to focus on. For the most part, SATs and ACTs are offered about once a month, so do it when you feel most comfortable and that you will be prepared. As long as you do it before application time, it doesn’t matter when you take them.

For the SATII however I definitely recommend taking them after finishing the corresponding course or near completion. For instance, if taking a bio or us history course, wait until may or june. If you have already taken the course, you might just need some brush up and take it in october (although it is best to do it when fresh). You can take subject tests on any month similar to the SAT, and can take up to 3 at a time (could be better to split it apart though), but not on the same day you take the SAT.

Good luck with everything!

Thank you. In response, though, I have never studied American History and I noticed that’s the only form I can do so I was quite concerned.

I’m studying AS Biology, History, English Literature and Philosophy. I’ll be finished with each by June next year, ready for my second year with just three of the four originally chosen courses.

Sorry, also, if you can take it literally whenever basically - why do the sites give specific terms and months it can be done? Or are they just the popular/normal times people sit them? Hmm.

There might be certain times it’s administered in the UK, so, that might be what you’re seeing.

" I have never studied American History and I noticed that’s the only form I can do so I was quite concerned." What do you mean by this? There are many other subject tests including biology, literature, math, foreign languages, chemistry, world history, and a bunch of others. Look them up on the college board website for the sat 2s you can also find the testing dates, usually the first saturday of each month. I’m not sure about the ACT, but you can probably find out there information on their website. Yeah and I agree with the person above, check with the international/UK testing dates if that is where you are taking it.

Yes but I do not wanted to take what I’m rubbish it as a test or what I couldn’t achieve highly in. History, Literature and Biology are my best but Literature looked horrendous.
