When will it end?

Is it me or does college seem to take forever? I’m not really enjoying my experience thus far and my core classes are burning me into sheer boredom. I have two more years but this is just an estimate. Do you think I can enjoy my college experience once I start taking my upper level division courses or those courses that relate to my major? How do people do it? College seems neverending. Oh the misery  !

Are the classes stopping you from enjoying your college experience? College isn’t all about the classes. You have to do things outside of class to enjoy college. if you don’t then you’ll most likely feel the same and not enjoy the college experience the next 2 years.

sometimes your major doesn’t allow you to do things outside of the classroom, library or lab,

It kinda sounds like you’re either at the wrong school or in the wrong major for you.

Id like to know what major that is… You can always make time to do stuff outside of labs and studies.

In fact, I would value having fun over class time any day.

OSU…

have you ever met someone majoring in an area like music or nursing?
At least here, those two majors rarely can stop studying, practicing, etc.–specifically music performance majors may practice 25-40+ hrs/wk in addition to their 32+ hrs/wk of classtime and 10-20+ hrs/wk of regular homework. Add in 56 hrs/wk of sleep to stay healthy (which is quite high on a performer’s list of priorities) plus time (~2-10 hrs/wk) spent in performances (both performances and required recitals, master classes, and work shops you are required to attend) as well as the 14-28+ hrs/wk of time necessary for eating, getting ready for the day and getting ready to go to bed and you have a major that truly does take up just about every moment of your day (and night)!

Still, I do agree with you that fun is crucial in college! If you don’t have some sort of social life while in college, you are MISSING out on COLLEGE!

Are you kidding?! I love college and dread going back home for spring break, which is in two weeks (this semester is going by so fast!). Compared to HS, college is heaven.

The core requirements at my college are flexible enough to allow me to take classes that would still be relevant to my major.

what major are you?

personally, i agree with Llama…i have too much work to enjoy my college experience right now.

Core classes do suck. I am taking some now and hate most of them! The ones I like best are the education and psych courses…my major and minor right there.

I really am not too high on college myself. I want it to end ASAP and have contemplated dropping out and opening a hardware store or becoming a contractor of some kind, although I really want to teach. I just don’t like the college life! I hate most of the people on my campus but I would never go away to school (can only live at home) so I’m sort of stuck. They have no manners, can’t drive, almost have killed me with their cars about a dozen times this semester already, talk too much on their cell phones, are too obsessed with their sappy love relationships, and wear dirty hoodies and reek of B.O.!

Yeah, I agree…can’t wait for college to be over.

It’s really sad that alot of you aren’t getting a good experience in college. You can ALWAYS make time for some sort of social life. I know people in seriously hardcore majors like architecture and engineering and they still find time to go out and have some fun every now and then.

To MightyNick: Sociology-Anthropology

ah ok…

anyway, of course you can make some time for social life. but the problem is, whenever i have free time i’m worrying about something else…that i should be doing work.

P.S. I like socializing with girls. But i dont get any.

socializing isn’t always the answer…

no its not just you. i noticed college is taking forever for me too. i think its cuz theres so much material being crammed into ur head, and ur used to high school where its slower paced. so u almost want to judge time based on how much uve learned and how much you’ve had to endure acedemically. so it seems like you should be done when ur only a third or 2 thirds through the year. just my hypothesis.

lol…apumic, i started reading your post w/out reading who wrote it and was like “hey, that sounds a lot like APU…”
i feel a little bogged down by all the general studies courses, but I do like them a lot…

It’s about time someone said that…>_>

Is Sociology/Anthropology really a major that “is less time” consuming compared to Psychology or is it at the same level?
