When you post a very helpful thread reply

A reply that you perceive as thoughtful…

Do you expect the OP to say “thank you?” Or not. What about e-mails?

I oftentimes notice that people don’t reply with “thank you” messages - although I’m kinda used to it. And wrt threads - helpful replies could stream in for several days - and it would be awkward to post several thank you messages in the middle of the thread.

Sometimes I wish people did, when I spend a while on a reply. Although I don’t generally post thank-yous myself, so it’s not so reasonable of me to expect them.

in PMs I definitely would.
and if I actually make a long thought out post, and search for links for the person it’d be nice to get a comment other than “BUMP! anyone else???”

I usually try to post a thank you to everyone who replied in posts I make requesting help.

I always say thank you, I have manners unlike Kevin Odorney or however the hell you say it.
