and need to know

when are numbers (for instance the number 5) spelled out as WORDS (five) and when are they spelled out in NUMBERS (5)?

<p>I’ve always been told that the numbers are spelled out as words when they are from zero to nine. For numbers 10 and above, they are written as numbers.</p>
