Check for California 'Distuingished Schools". It’s a group of public schools that made this cut after a very hard process. (professors visit campus, grades, scores, etc). My school, Santiago High School is one. We had the highest CAT 6 (standardized testing) scores in our area, we other about 20 AP’s and we have an extremly large amount of money lol. We’re located right outside of Orange County.

We were good but have lost a lot of ground in the Newsweek list. Of course, we don’t force APs in humanities classes, so of course our ranking is lower than others. And GQ did nothing to help the situation.

Troy High School is very competitve. I think it was 21st, then the following year, 46th ranked high school. I see people driving for an hour just to come to the school.

That list is a joke. No way in hell is Lincoln Park High School is that good. Anyone who lives in Chicago will tell you that.

The ones that I can think of -

TJHSST
Stuyvesant
Bronx HS Science and Technology
Bergen County Academics
Montgomery Blair
East Chapell Hill
Veastvia (not so sure about this one)

But I know a lot of these schools by how they do in math contests and stuff, so it might be a little skewed.

Stuy, BxSci and BkTech are not even in the top 100 high schools in america, so stop struttin.

I go to bxscience and it isnt hard to tell that these schools are special. In new york they might be elite, but nationally, they are nothing special.

Actually, anybody who even thinks that list is right is a moron. That is the worst way to measure top schools:

Some of the top in Illinois:

IMSA
Northside College Prep
Whitney Young
Walter Payton
Jones
Lane Tech(lower magnet tier but not bad, definitely above Lincoln Park).

These are all most of the good city high schools. Outside the city there is New Trier or Tier(I can’t remember), Naperville North, Naperville Central High. There are a few more good public schools.

I believe every single school on this list has at least a 22 ACT Avg or better. Some have a much higher avg ACT. Many of these have students accepted into prestigious universities ranging from Ivies to some like University of Chicago and Northwestern Universty, etc.

I guess this covers pretty much all of Illinois. The Suntimes webpage used to have the top 50 in Illinois(not ranked by APs) but I think they took it down for some reason.

So I can’t contribute to this thread since Florida schools suck! Well, public ones in the Orlando area anyways. The best public schools in my area would be Lake Brantley, Lake Mary, Spruce Creek, Winter Park, Boone, and a few others not in my county (Lake). If you plan to move to the Orlando area and like good schools and dislike suburban sprawl than avoid Lake county at ALL COSTS. Our growth rate is disgustingly fast, overcrowding our already crappy schools

Why do you ask…are you planning to move there to attend THAT phs?
