Where are the schools for lazy people?

<p>Honestly.</p>

<p>I hate hate HATE the college I am at now. I am a freshman at Loyola University Chicago, and did I mention that I HATE this place?</p>

<p>So I’ve been considering transferring, but here’s the problem…
I’m seriously lazy. All of the schools I look at have these students who scored poorly on their ACT (or at least less than I did) but clearly worked their butts off and had amazing GPAs.</p>

<p>My GPA at college is…pathetic. I have a 2.5.
However, in high school, I had a 4.7/5.0 weighted GPA (I believe I was ranked 78th out of 460-ish students graduating), and I got a 34 (36 reading, 35 english, 34 science, 31 math) on my ACT. I was involved in extracurriculars, but not overly so. I worked about 15 hours a week as a waitress.</p>

<p>I’m a Psychology major, but I’ve been considering switching to English. Loyola is good for one thing and one thing only, and that was giving me a ton of AP credit, which has enabled me to be a quadruple minor in Biology, Bioethics, Spanish, and Chemistry. None of these subjects are one’s I like. So that is partly the reason my GPA sucks. But yes, I’m also very lazy.</p>

<p>My AP scores were as follows:
US History: 4
Spanish Language: 4
English Language: 4
English Literature: 4
Psychology: 5</p>

<p>So what is important to me in a potential transfer school? Well, obviously, students who are smart but not overly studious. I seem to be a rare breed-either people are idiots who study constantly, or geniuses who…study constantly. Where are the lazy but smart people?</p>

<p>I don’t really care where my school is (urban, suburban) as long as it offers LOTS of activities to keep students entertained. I don’t like fraternities or sororities. Loyola students get drunk or go home on the weekends-I’d like a school where students actually STAY on campus and don’t drink heavily. I’d like a liberal school. I’d like a lot of options for study abroad. </p>

<p>universities in east asia? i think i heard students work really hard in high school (like 20 hours of study every day) and party like crazy in college.</p>

<p>maybe even some ivy schools. some people are just too smart to study.</p>

<p>something off topic: i got 5 in my ap us history. that class was easier than ap euro. u got a 4? and u live in eastern united states? my ap us history teacher said east coast students are geniuses in american history!!</p>

<p>East Coast students aren’t geniuses, period. They just go to expensive prep schools and then post worrisome questions about not getting into colleges because (<em>gasp</em>) they were second in their class or only got a 2200 on their SAT or some other bs.</p>

UT-Austin has many of the types of people you mentioned and is liberal and is in a GREAT city where students have many fun things to do AND LOVE TO stay on campus</p>

<p>Wesleyan or Illinois Wesleyan? I have to clarify, because around here (Illinois) when we say Wesleyan, we mean IW.</p>

how about UIC? They only accept 36% of the people who apply though, so it might be difficult.</p>

<p>I read your post about Loyola and how much you disliked that college. I am transferring to Loyola - Chicago from out of state, and I’ve been confused as whether I should go to DePaul or Loyola. I heard that although DePaul is 3rd tier it has a better quality than Loyola. So why do you hate Loyola? Just curious. What aspect about it did you not like? I too plan on majoring in Psychology? Was the coursework difficult? Was it the environment? Any advice would help, thanks.</p>

<p>Try UIC and Illinois’ state regional schools such as NIU, EIU, and ISU (that’s located in central ILL by the way). They’re relatively easy in terms of academics and competition is not stiff.</p>

<p>UIC is relatively easy? How so? I heard their curriculum is intense? Or is just the opinion of the students? By the way whose curriculum is more demanding Loyola or DePaul’s? Can anyone inform me as to why so many people have had a bad experience at Loyola University - Chicago? Was it the tuition?</p>

<p>They probably work at McDonald’s as cashier after dropping out of college or have started their own business (after dropping out of college). My point is, there will be very few to no “lazy but smart people” at college. </p>

<p>You have not provided us with any reason why you do not like your current school, but I’d assume you hate it because you don’t like the fact that people who are “stupider” than you are always getting better grades than you cuz they actually study and you don’t.</p>

<p>In high school, you’d see many of your breeds faring quite well with the grades and test scores because YOU ONLY HAVE TO DO WHAT YOU WERE TOLD TO DO IN HIGH SCHOOL.</p>

<p>College is different. Being smart is merely a part of the factors. If you do not put in the “hard work” component in your life, YOU WILL NOT SUCCEED IN COLLEGE. College is a place where you have to take the initiatives. Just “listenign to the lecture” isn’t enough to get you good grades. That is the BARE MINIMUM of what students should be doing. If you want good grades, you have to actually study. It’s not high school. Deal with it, if you are lazy, you do not deserve college. Seriously, I hate people who claim they are so smart that they believe they can top the class without putting much work into it, and I LOVE seeing them dropping out of the class after receiving a D in the first exam and blaming the prof for being a horrible instructor. </p>

<p>Unless you change your attitude, you will have VERY hard time finding the right college for you because believe it or not, college IS a place for studying. It’s not a place for smart people to goof around in.</p>
