Where are you from

For my summer class, i have decided to find out where most of Americas higher education kids and especially those going to the top 25 schools come from. When I mean come from, I mean what county or city is your high school located in (Dont say high school though). I have notice that a couple cities and counties are consistently sending their kids to the top. So lets find out which City or county does the most. If you will attend a top 25 school or are a senior applying to one please state your county or city.

For me,

Montgomery County, Maryland

they come from everywhere.

college station, TX
Brazos county

Fairfax County, VA

Wow another DC metro area kid

Montgomery County and Fairfax County really send a lot of kids to top schools. Id say that Potomac and Mclean are the primary producers.

Do you live in Potomac? I live in mclean.

What makes you think McLean is a primary producer?

i lived in potomac for 15 yrs. Yeh the standard of education there is very good compared to other public schools in the nation.

Please, the stats are a no brainer to get. Ummmmm…, a summer class? Please don’t try submitting this as reasearch to a top 100 college! Mid atlantic=heavy ivy! Caki= heavy UC!!!Go from there. Please, a new hypothesis??? I can’t believe the stuff I read here!

Ummm, he didn’t say he’s submitting it to colleges as research

It’s just a fun study for his summer class, jeez

Berkshire County, Mass.

He its not scientific, infact its not even meant to be some kind of stereotype stuff.

I have a REALLY REALLY funny teacher who wants us to focus on one part of the CRAZY college admission process. So i decided to do local empahsize on schools. Im going to simply write a paper using CC and some other stuff as starting points. Dont look at it as “oh man its statistically flawed” or “oh man whats this”.

Its just very interesting to note that some counties and cities in America are very academically motivated.

So i want to find out amongst students who are academically motivated (a lot of CC) where they came from.

So far i have noticed that
Massachussets,
Jersey,
DC metro counties,
California especially “northern parts” such as palo alto,
and Parts of suburban Penn are really academic hot spots

But i want to find more, so everyone post where your from and lets find the hot spots.

Orange County, California.

Ft. Lauderdale, FL

do you guys think that your area is very competitve in terms of academic talent and admits to top schools ?

La Canada (obscure), CA

Close to Pasadena. SOCAL!!!

SF, CA

NORCAL!!!

Milnor, North Dakota…

Although I’m not quite sure if I’ll be attending a TOP 25 university; I’m only an incoming junior in high school and haven’t taken the ACT yet, but if I do as well or better on that then I did on my PLAN and my grades and ECs stay the same… I think I have a shot.

Arkansas (another academic hot spot, I know.)

Santa Clara County, California (norcal)

What schools are in the “top 25?”

The Ivies and those under “CC Top Universities” are generally agreed to be among the top 25 (i think there are 27 there) schools.

Since the area of Phoenix is probably larger than Rhode Island…i’ll just say my city…Scottsdale, Arizona

sinbad: La Canada <— i’ve heard of so maybe not that obscure to a fellow so. cal resident… now Rowland Heights where i live, try that for obscure… It’s near west covina. 1/2 hr from disneyland =P

birmingham al, jefferson county
