where can a college student

get a prescription for birth control pills
do i have to go to a regular doctor nearby
or can i get like an on-campus doctor to give me a prescription
kthnx

Your college’s health service should have physicians on staff who can write you a prescription.

You can get them at Planned Parenthood for free.

Your campus student health services should have OB/GYNs on staff. Usually you can make direct appointments with one, and she/he will discuss BC methods and give you a prescription. Be sure to also have protection from STDs, birth control pills do not provide any.

MIT has a full-service medical center on campus: [MIT Medical : Home](http://medweb.mit.edu/)

They have OB/GYNs on staff as well as other specialties and an urgent care.

Virtually all MIT students go to Med for their medical care and prescriptions. You’ll get more information about the student health plan over the summer.

definitely go to planned parenthood. there are clinics everywhere, and it’ll be completely confidential if necessary.

they aren’t free, but the prices are very good & can be arranged on a sliding scale based on what you can pay.

Most campus health centers are really great for these sorts of things. Ours provides full prescription services, and they also have all of our prescriptions brought to campus by a local pharmacy so that we can pick them up and pay for them right on campus without having to leave. I know that’s standard at large universities, but at a small liberal arts college, little things like that make a big difference. I think you’ll be absolutely fine. :)

call 800 230 PLAN, and you can find a Planned Parenthood clinic near you, and set up an appointment. As Leah explained, they price birth control on a “sliding scale,” so if you’re a student making very little money, you’ll pay very little, if anything at all for the pill (depending on the programs existing in your state, some have something called “4NOW” which sometimes provides free birth control to college students).

Unless your student health center has a really good plan, I’d strongly recommend a visit to PP. And if your student health services are anything like mine, you’ll get significantly better advice from the doctors at PP – they specialize in reproductive healthcare, and really know what they’re talking about.
