Where can I eat my lunch at school? (if I bring my lunch)

This is a really random question…

I’ve decided to be a commuter, I probably won’t buy meal plan cause I want to save some money, and there’s only 2 days a week in my class schedule that I need to bring lunch with me.

But I’m wondering if I bring my lunch, where can I eat it?
Library? Probably is not allowed to eat.
Cafeteria? It seems that you can only get in if you have a meal plan.

Should I just go stand in the hallway to eat my lunch?

Thanks for answering.

There are usually lounges and other locations in many campus buildings or the student union where you can eat your own lunch. Even the library may have a cafe or snack bar where you can eat. You will find a spot.

Does your university not have a food court? Student union?

You can literally eat anywhere – outside on benches and tables, random seating in buildings, in the library depending on the rules (generally, certain floors have varying rules), food court, restaurants, student lounges, etc.

Colleges aren’t like high schools. There are all kinds of places to sit around. Usually there’s a student center, and most buildings have lobbies. (All the libraries I’ve seen have allowed eating, too. The one at my school has a cafe in it.)

You’re overthinking this. As long as you’re not eating in the middle of a lecture or in a place where food is prohibited, no one cares where you eat lunch. Sometimes I eat lunch at a booth in our food court, other times I eat in the hallways, other times I just go to a main lounge.

I brought my lunch often and met my friends in “East Commons”. East Commons had a number of franchises that students could access and swipe their board cards.

West Commons, in-house cafeteria, had more dorm residents but anyone could come in and sit.

There will be eateries everywhere on campus. My dd, a resident, likes going to the commuter lounge because of the variety of coffee and tea shops, fruit smoothie and ice cream places and bagel/quick bites locales. They actually have a “newsstand” which is actually really popular. Additionally, the bike parking is good. The only place where you may be limited or restricted would be the staff cafeteria.

This is very school specific. I’m sure you will find something easily by just walking around, but if you are especially nervous about it, look at your school’s map or website and look for things like a student center, food court, commuter lounge, etc.

I agree with the poster above–this isn’t going to be like high school. There will be lots of places to just sit and eat (or whatever else you want to do, like study or relax). You’ll find a place you like.

Your college will have a Student Center of some sort where you will be able to eat. Also, almost all schools have some kind of Commuter lounge.

You can eat basically anywhere you want. Libraries often won’t allow food. As far as cafeterias and food courts go, I’d be surprised if you weren’t able to eat there. They typically don’t require one to have a meal plan to get in. I’ve never even heard of that.

The beauty of college is that you can pretty much eat anywhere. Heck, I eat in my lecture (when our prof. gives us a 5 minute break)
