Where can I find individual bed sheets

My family sleeps with down comforters. We have a fitted sheet on the mattress and then a cover on the duvet. We sleep directly under this duvet without the addition of another sheet, traditional European style. Also, we tend to change the pillow cases several times between washings of all the other bedding. As such, we have no use for the flat sheets that come with the ubiquitous ‘sheet set’. What we need is plenty of good quality individual fitted sheets of various sizes and several sets of pillow cases for each. Finding pillow cases is not a problem…however…

It has become impossible to find individually sheets. I am collecting a closet full of flat ones which in the past in frustration I’d sew into additional comforter covers and now have way more of those than I need or can store.

I’ve been trying to find fitted sheets for the Twin XL dorm bedding. S will be taking his trusted comforter with him and again, no need for that darned flat sheet. IKEA used to carry individually sheets, but they have converted to sets. So far I’ve found one option at Target - but it’s only available in white.

Does anyone have another source?

Try ‘The Company Store’ and ‘Garnet Hill’.

I was just asking myself the same question. I looked for fitted sheets at Ikea and couldn’t find them. Don’t need that darned top sheet. Thanks for the suggestion.

You’ll probably find more options for the XL sheets closer to the start of school. We saw much more than just white ones when D needed them last fall. You can also try Ross if you have them in your area-they sell individual sheets all year long, but again, the XL will be easier to find in mid-July on. If you shop at Walmart-same story, but they do carry them.

JCPenney’s used to carry them. My kids don’t use top sheets either.

Buy the twin XL sheet set and make pillow cases out of the flat sheet.
Easy peasy.

Garage sales:)

Did you look at Bed, Bath & Beyond?

I thought my kids were the strange ones not using a flat top sheet! It sounds more common than we knew!

Bed, Bath & Beyond?
I haven’t had trouble find single sheets, but I havent looked for XL.
However, dont make too big of an investment into bedding in case they live off campus next year & have a regular sized bed.
Ive also bought dorm bedding @ Crate & Barrel, and Macy’s. (& Garnet Hill and The Company Store)
Personally, I like white, cause I can bleach them - but I expect for a college student, white sheets are about as practical as a toddler in white gloves.

Not a * lot * of selection, but they’ve got navy!

I see sheets sold separately all the time…BB&Beyond, Penneys, Kohls, etc. Not all sheets are sold in sets.

Here they are at Kohls

D bought her twin Xl fitted sheet last year at Macy’s. I think it was Martha Stewart brand.

Thanks for all the suggestions. Sounds like there is a larger number of orphaned and unloved flat sheet out there :)

Timely thread. I got sick of all of them falling on my head when I opened the closet. I just threw every sheet we own on the living room floor. Lots of sheets without friends :(

I believe Lands End does as well

I second The Company Store and Garnet Hill. It’s fun to mix and match sheets - we use both fitted and flat - and pillowcases. I don’t like to buy sets anymore.

I just checked The Company Store re x-long sheets and there’s a sale:
