Where could I go?

I am looking to go to a more vibrant city/ college town that is fun and holds high academic standards. I was thinking Tulane, UW–Madison, UW-Seattle, UNCCH, UVA… What colleges should I look to transfer to? Would I stand any chance transferring to these schools? I need to leave so I can get a high enough GPA to have a stronger chance at Med school and now that I know I definitely do not want to do engineering.

Current College- RPI, Troy NY
ACT-29
SAT-1950/1290 (I know its low but I had no lessons/teacher for the SAT/ACT)
HS GPA- 3.89(UW)
College GPA- 3.3(I missed an A in a classed by .3 and I thought I could get it rounded up to an a so that’s why on previous posts I said 3.6)
Major- BME switching to Biochemistry/Biology/Pre-med
EC/Community Service- Plentiful, pre med honor society, over 100 volunteer hours, more…
No financial constraints

If you want to improve your GPA you should choose a school that’s going to support you to do that, in some way, whether it’s smaller class sizes, or whatever you think you need to improve your GPA.

Also consider the cost of OOS tuition . . . .be sure you’ve got that covered.

You may want to consider Syracuse–for fun and solid academics.
Skidmore is in a cute small town, not sure if it’s too small for you, but it may offer support.
UMASS might be a good idea, because it has the 5-col consortium, it’s a nice area and you can choose from all of the 5 colleges for improving your GPA.
UVM? Cute town, parties
For warmer climates, how about U of Florida? It’s got a solid reputation and very fun
South Carolina–often overlooked for UNC and it might offer fun and support–Clemsen is fun if you’re big into football
Alabama is gaining more recognition for academics.

See if any of those interest you

My understanding is that med schools don’t care so strongly about where you attend undergrad, but do care about GPA, MCAT and your outside health-related work. Others can fill this in better for me.

Best of luck.
