Where did my eyebrows go?

I, too, had Brooke Shields eyebrows in my younger days. My mom and aunts told me how luckly I was that I wouldn’t have to pencil in my brows. Not anymore. I wear glasses, so my brows are somewhat covered. I only use powder/pencil for special occasions when photos may be taken, but considering what my brows used to look like it’s disappointing.

My eyebrows had become lighter and thinner. I dyed them with Just for Men Mustache and Beard (recommended on a CC thread?) and also filled in with eyebrow pencil. Then one weekend I was visiting with a friend to do some hiking. One morning, I put on sunscreen, but no makeup. I was also overdue to dye my eyebrows. My friend took a picture of the two of us, and it looked like I had no eyebrows at all. Seeing that photo was my “aha moment” that it was past time to do something else about my eyebrows.

A couple of my sisters-in-law had their eyebrows tattooed, and theirs looked great. So I went to the same person to have mine done. What a great decision! I love them! Microblading became a thing after I had my brows tattooed, so I may have considered that also.

I too, have the dreaded white hairs in my brows. I know you are not supposed to pluck them out but I do.

My brows used to be thicker and darker. I use pencil every day.

Raise your hand if like me, you grabbed your camera phone or a mirror after reading this thread to check out the status of your brows. I haven’t really given it a thought!

I always thought I had too much brow when I was younger. If mine have gotten thinner it’s a good thing. :slight_smile:

I have a mascara wand that is made for brows. Like others here, I’m too lazy to use it daily.

I have PCOS and my eyebrows have always been (and still are) dark and thick, though with regular bits of white. I can’t stand them. Also have had the chin and stache forever. I wax the brows and lip and pluck the chin. PCOS causes all sorts of extra hair growth. It’s calmed down somewhat with menopause, but not completely.

I’ve fought my eyebrows for years. Thick, bushy, uni-brow.

In my mid-50s & my eyebrows seem a little thinner on the ends now.

I would like to do laser hair removal on my legs, upper lip, and chin – but who (with a full time job) has time for that? (the grow-out then remove, grow-out then remove…ugh).

@Midwest67 - I thought of doing the laser hair removal several years ago , but like you, didn’t have time. Then a few years ago (I’m 61) I noticed that I no longer have any hair on my arms, underarm hair is almost non existent as is leg hair. Still have lashes and hair on my head is still fairly thick.

Unfortunately, still dealing with facial hair.

I also pluck the gray eyebrow hairs. I know at some point I have to stop or I won’t have any eyebrows left at all!

Try having alopecia. Losing my facial hair was a plus because I didn’t have to shave, but I never realized eyebrows and eyelashes actually serve a valuable function until mine all fell out and I was constantly getting things in my eyes. They eventually grew back, but were never the same.

I would also get bald spots on my head about the size of a quarter. The most I had at one time was about 10 and each one would take about 2 months to grow back. I kept my hair long enough to partially cover them and then used a wide tip felt pen to color in my scalp. Ha! Couldn’t use felt pen on the brows, though . . . . unless I wanted to look like Uncle Leo. :wink:

My eyebrows are doing the opposite: Politburo eyebrows.

@FallGirl

Something to look forward to! :slight_smile:

I refer to mine as “crazy old man” eyebrows. I am ok with them, but my wife and daughter are not. So I get groomed occasionally to keep them in check.

As my eyebrows turn gray, I’m getting some thicker, wilder hairs. I use Mac Pro Brow Set. It colors over the gray ones, fills in where needed, and tames the wild one.

Thick when younger, but now thinning at the ends. I use a pencil or shadow most days. I had a girl show me how to do eyebrows at Ulta and the results were startling and hilarious! She did them like a 20 year old dramatic model, and on a 50something frumpy grayhaired woman, it was too much. I try to add just a hint of color so it isn’t apparent I’m filling them in, but I do look much better and a little younger when they are more polished looking.

@psychmomma

We need pictures of the Ulta job! :slight_smile:

I started using RevitaBrow from Nordstrom a couple weeks ago. I’ll report back. Maybe it’s just wishful thinking but my brows do seem a little better. I took some “before” pictures and will compare in about 6 weeks.

Between my eyeglasses and bangs, eyebrows aren’t a big concern and are pretty much overwhelmed. My eyebrows were always faint and unruly—they still are.

Really, that is probably better than thick and unruly. :slight_smile:

I am a huge fan of microblading. I’m in my mid/late 50’s and had it done a couple of years ago. I am extremely happy with the result. Not even my mother could tell that my eyebrows were, for all intents and purposes, tattoos. You need to find a reputable practitioner, however. I highly recommend. It made a huge difference.
