Where did people with 35 ACT ended up getting accepted?

So basically the question is shown above. But to clarify also report the UW GPA and what was the exact breakdown that would be helpful? Thanks!

I’m trying to find a match for me. My breakdown is 35.25(34E, 36M, 35R, 36S) . UW GPA is ~3.9.
Any matches?

My D had a 1550 CR & M SAT (I think that compares to an ACT 35), 4.0 UW GPA and ranked 1/250. She was accepted to University of Pittsburgh with a full tuition scholarship. Only 2% of applicants received this scholarship.

Where is your home state and what is your intended major? I am sure there are ACT 35 accepted in every single top 50 schools and most, if not all, top 100 schools.

Almost every school has students with those stats - some high achievers want to be near home, others got scholarships, still others choose their state U, and still others have always dreamed of attending school x for reason y and end up there. That means that no matter what school you go to, there will be smart, high achieving students that you can get to know. Isn’t that great?

If, on the other hand, you are asking what selective schools could you be admitted to (i.e. schools with lots of high achieving students), there are many of those as well. Much depends on what kind of environment you want, what you plan to study, what you can afford, your state of residence and what other criteria are going to play a role in your decision. If you can articulate all that for us, we might be able to provide some reaches, safeties and matches.

I’m from Texas and Im applying to Biomedical Engineering as my first choice. Financial aid isn’t an issue, but merit aid would be awesome!

I had a 2300 on my SAT (that converts to like a 34-35 ACT I guess) and I was accepted EA to Georgia Tech and RD to Cornell, RIT and RPI.

These are the schools that accepted me in 2013 (Ohio resident, math major).

University of Michigan EA
Case Western Reserve University EA
University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign EA
Ohio State University
University of Miami EA
Northeastern University EA
University of Minnesota at Twin Cities
Drexel University EA

I was deferred from the University of Chicago EA, and rejected RD.

I applied to a lot of “safety schools” because I was worried about financial aid. Drexel and Northeastern appealed to me because they offer large scholarships to National Merit Finalists. Looking back, I shouldn’t have applied to so many out-of-state public schools. I got scholarships from most of them, but I would probably have fared better with private schools.

I just graduated this year. Two kids in my class got a 35 on their ACT. One of them is going to Northwestern and the other is going to Vanderbilt.

I got a 35 (34/36/35/35):

University of Michigan CoE EA (Shipman Scholarship)
Duke University Pratt RD (Likely Letter)
Carnegie Mellon University SCS & CIT RD
Georgetown University RD
Rutgers University EA
Drexel University RD
Fordham University RD

35 ACT (35 E, 35 M, 35 R, 36 S), 2360 SAT, 4.0 UW GPA, accepted to Duke ED and auto admit for UT (hi there - fellow Texan here considering BME as well). Didn’t/couldn’t apply anywhere else. Not that this is really helping you with finding a match, but I saw that you were considering applying for Duke ED - good luck!

@viphan @Constantius Congrats to both of you for getting into Duke Engineering! Do yall think that Duke BME is a high reach for me with my stats? That’s what my counselor says. She says my UW GPA/ (5-10% class rank) will kill me… I really want to do ED though how much would that improve my chances?

Your counselor is right about it being a reach, but is wrong about why it is. First of all, all that matters for class rank is being in the top 10%. Colleges couldn’t care less about rank after that point. Second, Duke is a reach for everyone (although less so if you apply ED).

With a 34 on my ACT (34 E, 35 M, 35 R, 33 S) I was accepted to Tufts Engineering which has about the same ED acceptance rate as Duke’s program. If you’re a good fit for Duke and your ECs are around where your stats are, I think you have a good chance. I have a friend with a 35 ACT (I think his math was slightly lower than mine and his E and S scores were higher than mine) with pretty good ECs that got into Duke A&S this year, as well as another with around a 2280 on the SAT who was accepted to Duke A&S as well (both were unhooked and applied ED). Another friend with a 35 on the ACT was accepted to UPenn ED. I think if you apply ED to Duke you have a good chance of getting in. Anything can happen with competitive schools, but your scores are certainly within a reasonable range.

@micmatt513 Thanks for the info! I am also applying to Tufts as well! That’s awesome to hear you got into its engineering program. My counselor says its a LONG SHOT/high reach, not even a reach. It seems kind of absurd really how she takes into account the academics so much insanely. She says my class rank is very low, even though people in my range for class rank got into Duke Pratt. My ECs are very time consuming and she seemed to smirk at that too. I have a strong passion in the health field and working with people. I did community service(250 hours) as camp counselor, research(internship), job as lifeguard/swim instructor in my local community. 4X Varsity Swimmer for my school team and president of 3 clubs at my schools. She says my safety schools are Berkely and Gerogia Tech. But I would have gotten into those schools alone just with my ACT score and hardly any ECs. I’m disappointed I would really like to get into some highly selective privates though like Duke.

34 ACT - CSUF
35 ACT - Santa Clara University
35 ACT - BYU

Berkeley isn’t a safety these days for certain engineering majors regardless of stats (especially since, like many publics, they, at least historically, put more weight on GPA and class rank than on test scores).

However, you are within range for Duke ED. It will come down to essays and how good your total application package is.
