Where did the equivalence college = undergrad come from?

<p>This is pretty straightforward: for many, especially those who didn’t earn an advanced degree in any shape or form, college really means undergrad. </p>

<p>That said, how, and when, did the terms college and undergrad came to mean the same thing?</p>
