Where did you find your best friend?

My mom says college is going to be better for me. She says I’m going to find a boyfriend and best friend in college, since I only had flings in high school and grew apart from best friends.

Where did you find your best friend? Any tips? Since I’m a cool loner I need advice on finding a new best friend.

There isn’t anything wrong with describing yourself as a cool loner.

As a loner myself, (I don’t know about the cool part), I have also had trouble making friends. Don’t try too hard, meaning don’t try to force a friendship with just anyone. Some people aren’t worth it. Put yourself out there more than is comfortable. If your dorm has a social room hang out in it. Keep your dorm room open so people can drop by. Drop by other people’s dorm rooms. Join groups. You’re going to have to put up with a certain level of superficial before you find your close friends, but the superficial stuff can be fun too.

Oh please … Some people are loners because they are introverts, there is nothing that needs to be fixed.

an “introvert” isn’t some kind of antisocial recluse who lives in a cave…introverts are people who become energized by having some alone time whereas extroverts get energized by hanging around others…the population is basically supposed to be 50/50 between the two with most people having a mix of traits…introvert is such a misused word for some reason

I met my two closest friends on the second day of class - we all just sat down at the same bio lab together and ended up clicking. you’ll meet people through classes, the dorms, clubs, sports, activities, whatever…don’t set out to “find a best friend”, just be friendly and talk to people and eventually you’ll click with some of them.

Did I say that?

He was sitting next to me snorting a line of coke off this stripper’s ass. I introduced myself and we hit it off pretty well!

Nah but seriously, I am sort of the same way, it takes a while to find your niche in college, and it may take you a week, and it may take you all year, or a couple of years. There’s no set amount of time that is a “right” amount of time and you shouldn’t be discouraged by people who become best friends in like the first week. Because they’ll be hating each other just as quickly. I know I had difficulty in the beginning but things are better now and will keep getting better as time goes on :)

Well, You can find your friends through the school clubs or sports like basketball or football.
In my experience, I would prefer to make friends in the school clubs because there will be targets and goals that everyone would be devoted to which may makes someone be more closer to you and have more topics to talk.As for the tips, I think be honest can be the best way to make friends. If you can treat everyone with a normal and generous heart, you may know how to get along with them. In other words, treating others well ,then others may treat you as the same!

I’m an extroverted introvert. I’m just mad that I haven’t had a best friend for 1-2 years and a BFF since 3-4 years ago. I have close group of friends, but I’m growing apart from them. I’m still close with them, but I felt a little bit distant with them this week. :(

My best friend and I grew up together, literally from birth.
My other best friend and I went to the same college together.
