Where do CAS students take classes?

Where do CAS students take classes? Which buildings? Addresses? I’m trying to decide whether I’d rather live in Founders or Hayden; walking isn’t a huge deal to me, but I’d like to be able to map out the walk from my dorm to my classes before I make my final decision.

Thanks!

mostly at the silver center. hayden is only a couple minutes away. founders is about 10

yea - mostly at silver. its located on the southeast corner of the park so hayden is the closest.
however founders is new so its bigger and nicer but the 13minute walk gets annoying in bad weather

I’d say the majority of CAS classes (lectures at least) are in Silver. Recitations tend to be spread out in more random locations. There are also a couple of language classes that are also placed in one of the Stern buildings (Tisch Hall).

The other answers are correct about Silver.
Just so you know, I’m currently at Third North, which is super close to Founders; like you said, if you don’t mind the walk, Founders is totally worth it since it’s so new and nice! I actually like the distance because the area is fun and it makes you explore the city more. There are lots of options for routes so the scenery while walking back and forth doesn’t get too boring. Plus you have more convenient access to Union Square (shopping, subway stop, etc.) in addition to Astor Place and 8th Street NYU.
However, there is nothing wrong with Hayden! My boyfriend’s in Hayden and I do admit there are times when I’ll envy how close everything is to him since Hayden’s right on campus. I just have to tell myself that the exercise is good for keeping off the freshman 15 :stuck_out_tongue:
I hope I helped!

In CAS the majority of your lectures will be in either Silver or 11-19 University Place, this weird building that somehow has a hyphenated number address without being bigger than any other building. Your recitations could be anywhere though; in Tisch UC (the lower level of the Stern building), 19 University place, the basement Goddard classrooms (detached from the Goddard residence hall but situated relatively underneath the building itself), 25 West 4th, or 48 Cooper Square. If you have language classes then you may be spread even farther.

Hayden is a great dorm because of its location, in-house dining hall, and scenic view overlooking the park. Founders is also very popular because of how new it is and therefore its cleanliness, but it’s widely considered the most “Asian” dorm, take that as you will.

My son is in CAS and he is actually closer to his language classes from Founders than if he were in the Washington Square/ main campus area. These classes meet most frequently for him (4 days a week). The classes are in the Asian Studies Dept. (or whatever the official name is). His sentiments about Founders echo those of Demiitasse ^ almost identically.
