<p>I’ve got a daughter in the Class of 2012, and she came out of a rural, public Southern HS that’s a Title One school (high proportion of student body on the free or reduced-price lunch program). Few APs, limited curriculum, never had a grad go to the Ivy League before. She had to go to great personal lengths to supplement the lack of resources she had readily available, and those extra lengths are probably what got her into Harvard.</p>
