Where do HLS/YLS/SLS grads go?

Is there a breakdown of what firm or practice the grads attend?

Why is there no love for Columbia Law graduates:(?

Sorry, I can only fit so much into the title.

In general, is there a hiring breakdown of firms like Wachtell and Cravath? Or, a breakdown of where law school students are hired?

lol, yeah. How large is the gap in prestige and, consequently, everything else between HYS and C/NYU? I wonder if those already in the profession --or law school-- can comment on this.

The gap is big enough to make a real difference in academia and clerkships. With a few exceptions, it is generally not big enough to make a difference when it comes to big firms.

You can search by firm and law school on martindale. The breakdown of this year’s summer associate classes has been posted on another site, but CC does not permit linking to it. Google law school admissions discussion.

Thank you!!!

don’t know if this is accurate or not but you can search wachtell for attorneys and where they graduated from.

So God damn elitist, look at those flipping undergrad instituions. with a few exceptions on there, everyone was ivy league, duke or stanford. ***!!! I wish i could cuss to show my frustrations with further proving that there is eliticism, as well as major grade inflation at those schools.

^…and your point is? That list is, I think, by no means exhaustive. Unfortunately, the legal profession tends to be elitist.

I love the fact that many, if not most, Yale Law grads seem to be socially conscious. Sure, they go to very prominent positions, but from the little I’ve seen, they don’t forget their main mission: to make a positive difference.

To answer the OP, evidently to the supreme court.

What exactly prevents the “holy trinity” from expanding to Columbia and NYU? Why is there ostensibly a barrier between HYS and CN?

And, yes, I know the “holy trinity” cannot expand if it is to be construed as such, but let us forget analyticity for a moment:)

If the holy trinity can expand, it will first expand to UChicago btw.

And if you want to discuss the “holy” trinity, I think Harvard and Yale are in a league of their own above Stanford.

Howard? really? I thought top firms only recruited from the t-14?

It depends, most law firms are regional and have no problem accepting the top 5% of a lower-ranked school. The advantage of a T14 is that you do not have to be in the top quarter or so to make big bucks like with other schools, and you have much better national placement prospects.

woah, that’s an odd combo.

by recruiting from Howard it allows them to expand diversity
