Chance me please?

bummmmmmmmmp

Your list is mostly unrealistic reaches. If you look at common data sets, people below top 10% are extremely rare at all your schools other than Wisconsin. Most of those with stats below the 75% are hooked. Your ACT is also very low for these schools.

The OP and I have similar scores & school choices as well. Maybe because I don’t want to lose hope for myself, but I think the OP has a chance at some of the schools on his list.

This award stuck out:
“Scholastic Silver Key for Achievement in the Visual Arts: Photography (11)”

Nice. But I’d have to agree with suze… your ACT is a little on the low side.

Wow, I didn’t know my rank and an ACT below 30 would completely obliterate the rest of my stats.
And yeah, I know a lot of the schools on my list are big reaches (Stanford and Wharton, etc) but I was really hoping for Cal, UCLA, and Michigan…

You are an OOS applicant for Cal and UCLA, so it will be much harder for you to get in.

Michigan seems reasonable, though.

Good thing Michigan is in my top 3  It’s not going to help that they’re eliminating rolling admission this fall however…

I agree Michigan seems like a good shot. Apply early!

Thanks suze

Anyone else?

less than 10,000 for a family of five is a pretty good hook…

yeah…my older brother is in college (UW-Madison), my younger brother who had health problems all his life passed away a month ago.

your act really isn’t bad, it’s more the class rank that’s an issue. but you seem very involved and i agree with mj93. if you write good essays, there’s certainly no harm in trying. what do you want to major in?

If I get into Ross, Haas, or McIntire (or by some divine intervention Wharton), then Business. If any of the others, then Econ.

You have a chance at Michigan LS&A if you apply in August. Perferred admit is a no go though.

Is it my rank that’s sealing me out of pre-admit? I’d hate to get into LSA, then end up rejected from Ross after freshman year.

Your rank, ACT score…the fact that you’re only getting to pre-calc are all hurting you. EC aren’t great (won’t serve as compensation). Your school only sends at the most two people to top schools, so it can’t be too competative.

Man I feel insufficient…thanks though

michigan LSA? probably
Ross? No

look for another experience to compensate for the weaker parts of your application. maybe get some sort of internship/job. capitalize on your organizing/leadership skills. even if it doesn’t help you get in, it’ll be a good experience.
