Where do TASPers go to college?

Do most of them attend the Ivy League schools?

The TASPers that I know did.

I WISH I GOT IN SO BAD. asldkfhasklfhasfa

Did you?

i’ve never met a tasper, but if i get in, i sure hope they go to the best schools…

going to tasp doesn’t mean that prior to tasp the best you could do was go to a state school and now all of a sudden harvard is knocking on your door. tasp is not a magic wand. and it certainly doesn’t change your financial aid.

belly, you seem extremely concerned about having something to brag about if you get into tasp… way more so than enjoying the experience of tasp. you’ve asked this same question on about 3-4 other threads… usually started by you. please just RELAX.

Wherever they feel like they wanna go, gosh.

Okay. but nobody asks you to answer, so don’t display that attitude and shut up. gosh.

Don’t tell me you’re not. And don’t try to read my mind, please.

hahaha
unreal

If you’re asking where TASPers go to college, you’re essentially asking TASPers to tell you where they go to college. So you technically asked me to answer your question. So I told you, using a reference from the classic 2004 film “Napoleon Dynamite.” You should rent it. It’s a fine film, and it correctly sums up the twin realities that 1) TASPers tend to find satisfaction with their post-secondary options, 2) TASPers are the sort of people that would find the “do TASPers go to Ivy League schools?” question ridiculous in its implications about the natures of the TASP experience and college.

And I’d say that virtually all TASPers do not view their experience as “something to brag about” insofar as selectivity is concerned.

in the united states…thanks for a useless question that is so biased in regard that “prestige”> experience.

^There are also some TASPers who go to college in other countries, whether they are international students already or American students looking for an international experience. This is definitely not the norm, however.

1) I did not attack the original poster. I answered his question with a semi-relevant pop culture reference and was subsequently told to shut up in a tone not consistent with my original response. If he/she was offended, he/she could have found more productive ways to express that.

2) In my experiences with TASP, it’s not disingenuous at all, especially seeing as the TASP selection process attempts to (again, in my experience) cull away those who primarily are doing TASP as an attractive addition to their resume; as such, the final group of TASPers (again, in my experience) is comprised of people who applied to TASP due to its intellectual and social offerings. TASPlicants (as a whole) and TASPers are not one and the same.

3) It’s a legitimate question, but also one that has been answered many times before on this forum.

I think it was pretty clear that the OP was concerned with the prestige of the program rather than the experience that some people actually try to apply for and epigram… my apologies :P, i guess the majority will attend school in the USA

^Haha, don’t be sorry; totally not a big deal or mistake.

@epigramimpelled: Had you answered my question, and not attempted to ridicule it, I would have felt fine. Did I imply anything? I ask a question toward a group, and you decided to ridicule, instead of answering it.

The words in quote were not mine

How am I supposed to know that line comes from such movie? And lines like that could have come from thousands of other situations. But gauging the context of the thread, would it be reasonable that I reacted that certain way?

Again, this is just a question. Nothing is implied, don’t make a big deal out of it. If you don’t want to answer, fine, you don’t have to.Don’t comment then. I am not here to argue.

Thanks you for your useless response. As stated above, please don’t try to read my mind. Am I not allowed to ask these questions without you guys telling me what my thinking SHOULD be?

Edit: Okay, perhaps I overreacted. I’m sorry, but remember that what you consider joking, if placed in the wrong context, may be misinterpreted.

I’m not making a big deal out of anything. Yes, TASP looks good on a college resume. No, TASP does not guarantee you a seat at the college of your dreams. It’s really as simple as that. The mission of the Telluride Association is pretty inherently at odds with a “will this look good for college?” philosophy, and that’s something to keep in mind when asking TA-affiliated people about the potential application-boosting powers of TASP.

@epigramimpelled: You may have got my intention wrong. I’ve never mentioned that the program will serve as a big boost on my college application. I’m just interested in knowing, in this group of bright minded people, these selected few, where do they often go? It is just as simple. Don’t over-interpret it, thanks.

belly, i’m sitting here, biting my tongue, big time.

for one, it bothers me that since the day you got notice of “advancing” in tasp that you have been all over the message boards freaking out about “bragging rights” of tasp (even before you’ve been accepted)

for two, really you aren’t supposed to be hyper involved on message boards, due to tasp’s wish for anonymity.

for three, if i knew who you were in real life, i would probably notify tasp.

for four, you have asked the same basic question, basically since you heard from tasp… multiple times.

for five, please just relax!!!

for six, if your college application is outstanding and they are on the fence, perhaps attending tasp might make a difference, but otherwise, attending, in and of itself, isn’t really anything more than being a candy striper at your local hospital, and in some ways, may even be less, as the candy striper is helping others, not just themselves or their college applications.

perhaps it is time to take a bit of a break from CC and concentrate on school and life :-)

I just wrote a long response to sMITten, and then realized, there was no need to continue debating useless things anymore. So I wish the mods will close, or delete the thread because it no longer contains good content.

I am not worried about you and what you do, but I am annoyed with the constant posts by you generally all on the same topic/same question. Had you asked the question one time/one thread, I wouldn’t have an issue at all, it’s just that you keep asking the same question over and over.

It would use way too much of my time to find all of your threads, but undoubtedly you know you have asked this question over and over and over again.

Peace out…

If I annoy you, then you also annoy me by constantly posting on these summer program threads.I have reported to the mods to close the thread, and so let it be.
Thanks.
