Where do the kids in your school go to?

-about 25% to U of MN (Twin Cities)
-about 20% to other U of MN/MN State universities
-about 20% to community college (that’s what the statistics say; it seems surprisingly high to me)
-about 15% to in-state/regional private schools
-about 10% to various out-of-state public schools (mostly in Wisconsin)
-about 2% to elite universities
-among the rest, there’s a mix of military, work, and small private schools that don’t fit into any of the above categories.

This is highly approximate (as in I’m basically completely guessing), but it seems to be somewhere around the pattern for most “good” suburban public schools in MN.

75% go to the state school/other instate schools. 10% go to okay expensive private schools, 10% go to top 20, 4% go to Ivys, stanford and the like. BUT my school is considered the best in the state (it’s certainly the most expensive)

5% ivies+stanford+mit+caltech
15% other top 25 private
20% state flagships
30% other state publics
30% local cc

40% No where
30% Local CC
20% Random College/Uni, many on sports scholarships, some CSU
10% UC

No top 10 or 20 in about 6 years. D:

50% community college or directly into the workforce
30% USF, FSU, or UF
15% Random Out of State
3% Top Private colleges
2% Ivy

5% Bergen Community College
30% Rutgers
35% Private Colleges (low-mid ranking)
20% Top 30 colleges
5% Ivy Caliber Schools
5% Workforce/Military

The majority of students:
Florida International University
Miami-Dade College (de facto: Community College)

Idk the percentages, but I know that the top 10 every year usually go to a UC school.

5% Community College
70% OSU (Regular/Scholars/Honors)
20% Ohio LAC
5% Private Univ.

these numbers are total guesses
20%- university of washington (seattle)
20%- washington state university (UW rejects go here :D)
20%- community college
38%- other colleges across the country
2%- Ivy league

The stats from my HS’s Class of 2009:
63% 4-year College/University
24% 2-year College
2% Trade School
1% Military
10% Bums
Colleges/Universities they matriculated at:
Connecticut, Delaware, Georgia, Maryland, Miami, North Carolina, Pittsburgh, Richmond, Southern California, Albright, Alvernia, American, Brandeis, Baylor, Boston College, Cabrini, Carnegie Mellon, Cornell, Drexel, Dickinson, Duke, Eastern, Franklin and Marshall, George Mason, Hofstra, Ithaca, James Madison, Kutztown, Lafayette, LaSalle, Lehigh, Michigan, Millersville, Mount St. Mary’s, Neumann, New School, New York University, Penn State, Purdue, Rensselaer, Rochester Institute of Technology, Saint Joseph’s, Stanford, Syracuse, Temple, Tufts, Vassar, Villanova, University of the Arts, University of the Sciences, Wake Forest, Wesley, Widener

I’m not going to try to give numbers, because I have no idea what the actual percentage is. My school is pretty big and it’s pretty divided between those who do things and those who don’t. I only know kids that do things, so my view is kind of skewed. I’ll just give some generalizations.

A lot of kids go to no college (those that don’t do things).
Of the rest, most common is probably non-flagship state schools (I’m in PA).
Pitt has been really popular the last few years. I know about 15 kids that go there, and that’s just that I personally know. PSU is also pretty popular, but not nearly as much as Pitt.

We also send pretty many kids to top schools. This year’s class has 5 going to Ivies (three Cornell, a UPenn, and a Dartmouth) and there’s still some more waiting to hear back. Boston University is also really popular for some reason.

The top level of students (maybe top 10-15%) attend schools ranked in the top thirty or so. A TON attend Mizzou. WashU STL is also insanely popular for a Top 15 school - we got about 15 people in last year. Then again, a lot of professors at WashU send their kids to my school, so there may be someone of an advantage for them.

Oh, and a lot of kids go to community colleges. Still other go to lower-ranked schools in other states. Very few don’t graduate, and hardly any attend military schools.

30% - Community College
30% - Decent/Bad State Schools [Farmingdale/Old Westbury/Cortland/Delhi/Albany/Buffalo]
15% - Good/Great State Schools [Stony Brook/Binghamton/Geneseo]
10% - Decent to Good Private Schools
5% - Good Out of State Universities [Maryland/Delaware/Virginia]
5% - Top 20 or Equivalents

5% - Workforce/Military

Out of a class of IB kids:

60% UCs (mostly Cal, LA, SD, Davis)
15% decent/good private schools
10% prestigious private
5% random other
10% community college

The most popular schools from my graduating class were Penn, NYU, Pitt, Penn State, Temple, GW, Miami, Michigan, and BU

Hmm…

In hindsight my high school was very white, very rich, and very suburban. I spent all of my high school years with the school’s high-achievers, so bear in mind that these numbers may be too positive.

A lot of people went to the local community college.

I’d say a good number went to UCs; we had maybe 2-3 dozen to Berkeley, two dozen to UCLA, and a lot to the lower UCs (this was out of a total of ~600 students in the class). Almost everybody I knew in the AP classes went to at least Berkeley or UCLA.

Slightly less than two dozen went higher - to Ivies/prestigious liberal arts. Our year had 3 to Brown, 3 to Penn, 3 to Cornell, 2 to Columbia, 1 to Princeton, 1 to WashU, 1 to MIT, 1 to Rice, at least 2 to top-ranked liberal arts (I’d looking at my facebook as I do this). Bear in mind these are estimates.

Every year we’d also have >3 to Stanford, >3 to Harvard (a lot of these were athletes). In the best year I think 8 went to Harvard.

For my high school, as a sophomore in North Carolina (Top Public?) I would have to guess:
45% State School (App St, NC State, UNC Charlotte/Wilmington/Chapel Hill/Pembroke)
15% Decent Private Schools
15% Out of State State Schools
10% Nearby Community College
10% No college/military/work
5% Top Privates/Ivies
