i’m coming int o college with the mindset that my room might not be the best place to do my studying (or at least the majority of it anyway). i’m planning on studying in the library for the most part, but i was wondering…where are the good places on campus to study? or where do YOU study?

Illini Union…

ISR has a decent study lounge. A lot of students study at the undergrad library, but the lowest floor of the library is where it’s actually quiet. Many students really like Grainger Library, which is the engineering library.

Watch out for Grainger between like… 4 and 6 PM, though, ESPECIALLY on the first floor, and near any sort of public computer in the building. The University’s lab high school lets out at 3:50 and in my experience, some obnoxious members of the subfreshman and freshman classes are extra loud while waiting for their parents to pick them up.

Uni does try, though, to make sure the students stay out of Grainger during finals weeks.

this is a stupid question, but as long as u have a uiuc id card, u can go into pretty much all buildings on campus, right? so a non-engineering student can go study in grainger, etc?

to my knowledge, yes. except like dorms.

When I was an undergrad back in the dark ages, a few friends and I studied in the Law library.
