<p>OK, let’s talk about shoes.</p>
<p>I have become fanatical about getting my shoes repaired – new heels, tips on the sole at the toes, replacing the soles entirely if warranted. I find I can keep an $80 pair of shoes (or less $$$ if I bought them on sale) for years and years by doing this. The only problem is that the shoes go out of style before I have to toss them.</p>
<p>Shoe repairs can be a little pricey but they’re much better than replacing the shoes.</p>
<p>I have a wonderful pair of 10-year-old Salvatore Ferragamos (originallly ~$300 but I got them for ~$125) that I’ve had resoled more times than I can remember.</p>
