Speaking of bras and panties (panties in particular) - I needed so buy some recently…since I didn’t want to pay a fortune but had a style in mind, I checked Kohls. Pretty much 3 for $24. Didn’t want to pay that and knew I would be going to TJMaxx later in the week. There, I found the same brand, style I like , plus other similar brands and I payed as little as $1.99 a pair - the highest was $3.99 - of course not oodles of colors etc., but I was able to find 5 pairs of tan and black the colors I wanted for a fraction of the cost. I have also found bras there too - again, about a 1/3 of the cost…

VeryHappy - that is what I was taught as well, maybe we are in the same sorority lol! My fingers are so long that rule did not work for me…

I have had luck hunting at Marshalls lately, since there is one next to the salon that I go to, found a Vineyard Vines hoodie for my D there last time at 20% of the retail price as well as Nike Dri-Fit tops. At tjmaxx I find a lot of good winter weather accessories (gloves, base layers, etc) that are past season but still the same.

Serious question–any good suggestions on reusable, non-adhesive nipple covers so as not to be saluting everyone? I prefer not to wear padding but like t-shirts & knits & it’s hot much of the year in HI. Successes? Ones to avoid? I’m tired of so much layering but want to look professional.

30% off of Coldwater Creek stuff with the right codes. Go to retailmenot.com for codes. Eddie Bauer is having 70% off sales write now. Couponcabin is also a great place for codes and printable coupons.

Costco has cute sleeveless Nike ladies’ running tops for under $20–bought one for D for fencing. It is good because it wicks moisture to keep you dry. She was thrilled to find a similar short-sleeve top at REI on sale for just under $30 (1/2 price).

Got a Wacoal bra from Ross for $8.99 at Ross–much better than the $62 apiece I paid at Nordstrom!

sizing can be very hit or miss, especially these days, so i’m getting increasing reluctant to purchase on-line. s does, but is fine with returning or reselling when it is not what he expected. i find it too much of a hassle.

I went back to work recently. I would like to expand my work clothes options ( we are “business casual” in my office), but I just don’t feel comfortable in skirts/dresses anymore now that pantyhose are considered “old lady”. Part of my problem is that I am fair skinned, so my legs look too pale. I sometimes use self-tanner, but I still feel awkward. What do you ladies ( over 40) think?

Wear the pantyhose. I can’t imagine anyone caring that you wear them. It’s not like you’re wearing a whalebone corset. Now that would be “olde lady.”

Pantyhose are considered “old lady”??? Dang, when did THAT happen?

I don’t know, mommusic. I have noticed that my Ds seem to wear their dresses and skirts without pantyhose or any kind of hose. I can’t imagine wear heels without hose!

Go to your local Banana Republic. Try on a bunch of their lined, tropical wool slacks. They have quite a few different fits and rises, different leg widths. You will find a rise/fit that looks good on you. Whether or not you buy those particular slacks, you will know what to look for. Banana Republic has pretty good sales on classic styles. That is where I would start. If you aren’t on the mailing list, get on the mailing list for Ann Taylor Loft and White House/Black Market. They are constantly sending 20% off coupons.

I’d really go with dress slacks and jackets or twin sets.

It happend 4-5 years ago. In the summer in Dallas you wil not find a pair of hose on a woman under 65 in my building, and my building is full of lawyers and bankers. My Sunday School class has women between the ages of 50 and 64 and only one lady still wears hose.

I won’t wear pantyhose anymore either. I’m 49. In the winter, I will wear skirts that I can wear tights with - the tights with some cotton in them are very comfortable. Once the weather warms up a bit and I get a little color on my legs, then I’ll go without for late spring, summer and early fall. Otherwise, I stick with pants.

I’m hoping that someone will answer HImom: “Serious question–any good suggestions on reusable, non-adhesive nipple covers so as not to be saluting everyone?
Anyone?

I think I know exactly what happened to pantyhose—when skirts started sitting on the hips instead of around the waist and the tops of pantyhose were revealed in an unflattering manner. The pantyhose manufacturers should have adapted and come out with something that would work.

I also tend to wear tights instead of pantyhose, and I certainly wear tops long enough so that my bellybutton isn’t exposed. At my age, no one wants to see that.

I can not imagine wearing my pencil skirts without tights or pantyhose. If pantyhose is old-fashioned, so be it! I’ve seen some pantyhose (forgot the brand) designed to accomodate those sitting on the hips skirts.

I have unopened panty hose in my drawer that are at least 10 years old, so I guess they did drift out of style.

Yeah, I still have most of a 12 pack that I bought at a L’eggs outlet oh so many years ago.

Although I mostly wear pants, I am waaaay too pale not to use pantyhose when I do wear a dress or skirt. I would blind people. :)
