Where do you think I should ED II

My dream school is UCSD. UCSD is only a RD school. I’m applying to a bunch of colleges for the RD cycle (about 20). Four of which I’m planning on potentially applying as ED II to. The four are Claremont McKenna College, Emory University, Northeastern University, and Pitzer College. The only reason I’m applying ED II is to better my chance of admission to these schools in case I don’t get into UCSD. Here are my issues:

-Do you think UCSD will even accept me? They asked for my tax info and SSN, if that helps.
-The case in which UCSD doesn’t accept me is why I’m planning on applying for the ED II cycle.

Here are my stats:

-1450 SAT: 780 reading/670 math
-32 ACT

I’ve have taken 13 APs so far. That’s slightly above average for my school. I come from a top ranked public high school in NY in a relatively wealthy area.

Here are my core classes and grades I got in them:
-9th
-AP World History: A
-Geometry Honors Common Core: B+
-Italian 2 Honors: A
-English 9 Honors: A+
-Biology: A
-10th
-AP Euro: A
-AP Psych: A
-English 10 Honors: B
-Chemistry Honors: A
-Science Research: A
-Algebra 2 Honors Common Core: B+
-Italian 3 Honors: B+
-11th:
-AP Chem: B+
-AP Physics: B
-AP Micro: B+
-APUSH: A
-Italian 4 Honors: B
-Math Theory Honors (University of Chicago PreCalc): C+
-English Common Core: B+
-12th:
-AP Macro, Bio, Stat, Lit, Comp Gov, Italian

Extracurriculars:
-Varsity Swim: 9th-12th grade
-Model Congress (we go to Yale and Penn): 9th through 12th grade
-DECA: 10th and 11th grade
-Quiz Bowl: 11th and 12th grade
-Forensics: 9th or 10th grade

The UCs notify in March, after the ED II notifications (Feb 12 for Pitzer and Feb 15 for CMC, Emory, Northeastern). If you are accepted at your ED II school, you would have to withdraw any and all other applications, including your application to UCSD.

Hi @UCSDfan1007
I’m not clear if you understand how ED works. You can only apply to one school ED, and if you are accepted, you are committed to attend. An ED contract is required, signed by you, your parents, and your guidance counselor. The only legitimate “out” from an ED contract is if the financial offer does not match up with what your family is able to pay. If you are accepted ED, you must withdraw all of your other college applications (including UCSD).

Okay, next thing. 20 applications? How many have you submitted so far? These apps are a lot of work. Have you run the NPCs (net price calculators) for all of those schools to make sure they are affordable? Are you aware that the UCs provide no financial aid to out of state students? Make sure you and your parents are on the same page when it comes to paying for college. Best of luck to you.

If UCSD is your top choice school, then you should not apply ED anywhere else, since you are committing to attend the ED school if you are admitted.
