<p>I recently heard from someone that any type of scholarship (including local) money goes directly into the financial aid package, NOT your family contribution. Is this a valid statement, and if it is what’s the point of receiving any scholarship?</p>
<p>Aid Scholarships are first used to reduce your contributions (loans, work stdy, summer employment), then the school contribution, then EFC.</p>
<p>If you receive merit aid, your scholarships would be added on top of the merit award.</p>
<p>Point of receving scholarships is to reduce loans, work study etc.</p>
