Where does one buy random necessary things at Cornell?

where would i buy things like toiletries, tylenol, and other typical drugstore items at cornell? i would assume that they have stores for these kinds of things on campus… right? can you get them at the cornell store or something?

target at the mall, its very close by bus, you get a free bus pass as a freshman. bear necessities (nasties) at RPCC sells some of this stuff too, but limited selection, and overpriced. cornell store doesn’t really have much stuff.

i disagree with feral24, because nasties and the cornell store probably have everything you need in terms of mild pharmaceuticals unless you need something over the counter

You probably can find whatever you need at Nasties and the Cornell Store, but Target will be cheaper. Of course, if you’re looking to buy meds like Tylenol when you’re already sick, making a quick trip to Nasties is easier than taking the bus out to Target. When I had a bad cold last year, I loved that I could just buy Campbell’s microwaveable chicken noodle soup at Nasties and didn’t care how much it cost, lol.

How accessible is the bus that goes to Target?

As in, does it come and go many times during the day? Does it stop running that route after a certain hour?

[TCAT - Route 30](http://tcat.nextinsight.com/routes.php?mrnid=354)

Route 30 is the most commonly used one since it runs through college town, central and north campus and then to the mall.

other routes you can find on the TCAT website with the descriptor “shops at ithaca mall”

in the past 2-4 years there have been awesome changes to the TCAT bus line which makes it even easier for a cornell student to go to the mall on the weekdays and not to mention the weekend bus. both which now run outta north campus.

the bus 30 is always available too though :)

Somni appears to disagree with Feral again.

For the weekends, they have changed the route number to 70. So, you might want to check that one as well.

@chendrix, whats new…

Anyone know where you can get an old school Cornell sweater / when did they stop making them?

Also Wilson Farms is open 24/7 in College Town.

Thank you, fallenmerc.

i’m surprised that they don’t have something like a target/walmart/cvs on campus. that would make life so easy. i’ve never heard of “Nasties” but do they sell drugstore brand items?

“nasties” is a convenience store/snack bar located at the robert purcell community center on north campus.

it is open until 2am during the week and 3am during fri/saturday.

they have basic toiletry/first aid items…the selection is slim but helpful in a pinch.

tylenol and other common over the counter medicine can also be purchased at gannet

also one of the convience stores in c town like jason’s or wilson farms probably has a bigger selection than nasties of toiletry type items closer than target

RabbitHole’s post! that’s open at any time of the night, and it’s right on the main drag of collegetown. it also feels quite expensive, but it should not be discounted especially if you’re already in the area when you develop your drugstore needs…

Gannett is good for the pharmacy type stuff

Nasties/Wilson Farms/Jansens (in Noyes) are good for toiletries, snacks

Wilson Farms/Jasons (a bit farther into C-town and not 24 hours a day)/the random store on williams are good for tobacco products

Everything here is overpriced until you get to wegmans/triphammer mall areas. The fact is prices are overinflated because of the “convenience.” Just plan ahead and make trips to target, if you find you have a friend that is cool and has a car then it makes life easier.

lol. just out of curiosity, why is bear necessities called “nasties”?

admittedly, there is a VERY crabby short man who spent about 5 minutes yelling/grumbling at a kid for not lining up properly…

Haha Googler, I think I was there for that (like he was walking out of the queue and up toward the counter before they called “next”). The kid seemed both confused and scared at the same time.
