I really thought this would be an easy thing from D’s wish list: a Navy blue wool pea coat that is mid-thigh length. I have looked places like LLBean and Lands End but the pea coats are waist-length.

Anyone have an idea where I should look? Looking for decent quality–not super cheap but not super expensive . . .

I got mine at Costco. My secretary bought 3 as holiday gifts. They were around $50. Its a Michael Kors. I just checked-- don’t see it inthe online catalog, but overstock.com has a bunch, as does Banana Republic, Amazon and JC Penney. Lots of choices.

Thanks for the suggestions. After looking at a number of websites I realized that I would rather see what I was buying even if it meant trekking around, and I ended up finding two London Fog coats for really great prices (about 75 persent off) at a local department store–one is Navy (the requested color) but a little short and one is black but longer. I bought them both, and I really wouldn’t mind if D wants to keep them both. This (these?) will be her first dressy wool coat(s) as an adult–she usually wears her HS letter jacket or fleece.

Amesie, I’m sure she will love them. First “dressy adult” coats are exciting. The nice thing about the black one is that it goes with anything. My first wool pea coat was in black. I’m kind of quirky… so now I also have one in red/black plaid, in a purpley fuchsia, and in lime green as well. They look so sharp and I match them to different outfits that I wear. Mine are lined with thinsulate and it makes them very very warm.

My daughter wanted something similar, but with a hood…less to choose from. I did find some at Macy’s and JCrew…a bit high priced even with discount but will look at Nordstrom’s. Ebay had a nice one, but it sold out while she “thought about it”. : )
Burlington had nice pea coats when they were in high school, another place to look again.
She did find a mid-length double-breasted coat at Landsend last year which was nice quality and a bargain after Xmas. She prefers a hood when it rains or snows (so do I) but again, harder to find.
