Where shall i apply?

Hey guys! I just wanted some opinions on which universities you guys think would belong at. I want a university where the student body is pretty, intelligent, almost everyone has a social life, and there is some form of a community feel. There should also be things to do off-campus, I don’t want to be in a secluded place. I want the university to offer activities around campus that unite the student body and preferably a good sports school. I want to be able to study when I want to and learn a lot but also have a fun since college is suppose to be the best 4 years of my life. Thanks guys!

What are your stats?

Just pretend hypothetically that my stats are good enough for most schools. Do you guys have any suggestions?

^That’s really vague.

Why don’t you just tell us your stats, even if you are just hypothetically pretending? Also, what do you want to major in? Are you zeroed in on a particular US region?

UMass-Amherst

Universty of Maine

Indiana

GPA - 3.6UW/3.7ish
SAT - 2280
Solid EC’s/Essay/RECS

I want to do something related with business/law

Thanks, that’s much more helpful. Just a few more questions: 1. is your GPA 3.6 out of a possible 3.7 or 3.6 UW and 3.7 weighted? 2. What is your approximate class rank and what type of school do you go to (top public, private, etc.)? 3. How many AP’s will you take (sum) junior and senior year?

Oh sorry i meant to say 3.7W.

i don’t think our school ranks / top 100 high school in the US (public)

5 APS ( junior + senior) / 1 AP (sophomore)

Thanks!

Your info so far hasn’t given me any obvious insights into college recs for you.

I’d look at top universities and LACs. You probably have a shot at almost every top school in the nation. I suggest looking through the specialized forums for the top unis, top LACs, and ivies on here and doing some serious narrowing down.

Sorry, but I don’t like this sugar-coated business… the person above me is way too optimistic. A 3.6 is not going to cut it for basically the entire top 30.

But your SAT score is really really good. So definitely apply anywhere you want.

^That’s complete BS. I went to a top public HS, probably similar to the one the OP attends, and a 3.6 at my former HS puts you right in line for admissions into schools outside the top 10 down, if not occasionaly higher.

You absolutely do not know this. Don’t let rank fool you into thinking it equals high selectivity. Take Umichigan Ann Arbor and UNC Chapel Hill as examples.

So do you guys have any suggestions? Right now, I’ve thought USC would be a good match.

Vanderbilt University. I’m guessing from your criteria of “pretty student body” you’d want good looking people in your school and what better University is there with some of the most gorgeous and intellegent females than Vanderbilt.
