What good schools do people think I could get into with my stats thats big on polisci/ history/ English or economics?

econ will be hard since your math score is weak
and i’m not sure about the others… you don’t really have leadership positions… but your subject tests are amazing! (I envy you!)

but the profile in courage is great!!!
haha I did that contest for extra credit but you got the top 5, which is really amazing…

I visited Wesleyan and Tufts last break and I visited Hopkins before that. I’m working on teh leadership, and I should have a few good ones by next year. Do you think that my frosh gpa would hurt me or would schools over look that since ive improved?

I would love to go to Georgetown, but haha, my school is actually on a ‘blacklist’ there because one year a kid got in ED and didnt go. Broke the contract. So nobody’s gotten in for like 10 years.

I think my ideal size would be around 3-5 thousand and probably in the city but something thats secluded, like without roads going through campus

as far as geography i kinda wanna stay in the North East

i dont know. has G-Town gotten rid of it recently? the story is an urban legend at my school because even though my school sends kids to all the elites no one ever get into Georgetown. The story might not be true though.

I visited Tufts, gotten the tour and all, and I thought it was nice but i didnt love it. I want to go back early next year and spend the night/see a class.

I think George Washington University could be a very good low fit. Maybe American University as a safety…? I think Vanderbilt, Emory, Boston College may be good low to mid reaches.

thanks for the tip on ‘the underground guide to the SATs’ im gonna order that today

I visited GWU a few vacations ago and i didnt love it. maybe that was just cause it was a nasty day but it seemed like a very disorganized school (no main quad and a bunch of streets running through the ‘campus.’ As for Vandy , Emory and BC i think i prob will apply there…i know peoppel who have been happy at those places

definitely look at Johns Hopkins! A gorgeous secluded city campus and only around 4,000 students. Because they have such an amazing IR undergrad program, they have equally great political science, economics, and history courses. I think those are the required areas for IR besides a language. I’d say it would be a great fit for you.

Tufts as well. Same size and a great programs in political science and economics. Not directly in Boston but about 10 minutes away. I, personally, liked Hopkins more.

I visited Hopkins, and i liked it alot, but the huge amount of kids there that do research made me a little uncomfortable. LIke i have no intension on doing research in college and i think at hopkins somthing like 80% of kids do.

I really like Tufts, that has the most potential to be my ED of any of the schools ive visited so far

does anyone know how the history/polisci/econ programs are at kenyon/bowden/bates…those are some schools my mom reall wants me to look at

Bowdoin has great polisci econ programs. I’m looking there for the same majors and I’m really interested. I know someone doing a sociology major at Bates and is currently studying abroad in China. She says its a great program. I hear better things about Bowdoin though (general level of education, surrounding town)

Kenyon’s a fantastic school. Unfortunately, I don’t know much about the polisci/econ there. They do have an amazing English department though
