Where should I apply (Target and Reaches)

I go to a very highly rated private school in Kansas that offers 17 AP classes. I prefer a small liberal arts school in the northeast that would hopefully set me up for an investment banking internship. I will have strong recommendations and very strong essays.

I have almost 1000 hours of work experience as the payroll manager at a home health care agency with roughly 1000 employees. I have played table tennis for 15 hours a week since freshman year. Co-captain of our school’s history bowl team that won a state championship. 4 year debater and 3 year forensicator qualifying for nationals and state in both. Various other volunteer work and clubs.

Basic Stats:

UW GPA: 3.87
W GPA: School does not weight GPA but I estimate 4.5

ACT Composite: 33
ACT Math: 29
ACT Science: 35
ACT Reading: 34
ACT English: 35

60 people in my graduating class and school does not rank
Many graduates are accepted to ivy leagues
I can write very compelling essays

8 AP classes by the time I graduate
AP Scholar
all courses that are not AP courses are considered honors courses

Thanks :)!

Your criteria indicates NESCACs, particularly those noted for their outstanding economics programs (Williams, Middlebury, Wesleyan, Hamilton . . .):

Or those that tend to produce future MBAs (Amherst, Hamilton, Middlebury, Bates . . .):

For your interest in IB, Williams and Amherst are noted for that and would be reaches but possible. Colgate would be more of a match.

Students from several colleges can participate in a Harvard Business School program that may be of interest to you in terms of your search:

.
Amherst and Middlebury. Consider Dartmouth and Boston College.

These eastern schools are renown for their economics departments because of their status as top Ph.D feeder schools.

Wesleyan, Amherst, Swartmore, Williams

Thank you all! The top schools on my list were Williams and Amherst and I really feel that I could get in but I was looking for an outside source that would not have a personal bias. This really helped alot!

CrewDad,

Dartmouth seems like an impossible school to gain acceptance to. Especially with my average extra-curricular activities. Just wondering why you recommended the school?

Williams, Dartmouth and Amherst tend to enroll students with similar academic profiles:

In terms of producing future Investment bankers, Middlebury is one of the top schools in the entire country. In fact it tops all but about a dozen or so National Research Universities, including those with MBA programs. The only small Liberal Arts Colleges that do better are Amherst and Wellesley (limited to women).
