Since deadlines are approaching quick I was wondering if anybody could give me some last-minute suggestions of where else to apply.
I’ve got a 33 ACT and a 4.1 GPA (Dunno what unweighted is; they don’t tell us). A few extracurriculars but nothing that stands out.
Planning on majoring in engineering.
I want to go to a big school in a big city, but I’d be willing to compromise on one if the other is met. I’m in Ohio so I’d prefer to stay relatively close.
I’d like to go to a school where I’d get substantial financial aid.
Suggestions on where to look at?
Is your family low income? If so then schools with good FA would work. If they are middle class with lots of bills then you need to look for merit aid. There are some great in-state options like Wright State which would net you some merit $. Here is another good list to start with: http://automaticfulltuition.yolasite.com/
I’d apply to Case Western. It’s located in Cleveland, so big city feel but small enough to get around easily, and still close to home! You’re above average with your ACT score, so that’s good! Their acceptance rate is also 38%, so you probably won’t have too many problems getting in!
CWRU is known for being generous in merit and need-based aid. I live like 5 hours away in upstate NY and all of my engineering teachers constantly preach about applying to Case, even if you don’t want to attend- you can use their aid as leverage at other engineering schools for better aid packages.
I’d seriously consider it- here’s a l couple links for more info:

Oh, and it’s free to apply and there’s no writing supplements, so it’s a great choice for applying “last minute.”

What does that mean? Does that mean that you’re low income?
Or does it mean that your family has a good income but can’t pay much?
Do you have a non-custodial parent?
If your family has a good income, but can’t pay much then you need BIG merit.
How much will your family pay each year?
