Where should i apply?

I’m 17-year-old homeschooler in Korea.
I plan to apply to college this fall, but i have no idea where i should go for.
I know this is something I have to deal with, but in Korea, esp for a homeschooler, it’s terribly difficult to get any info about college. plz help.;(

I got my New SAT1 2230 (Math:740 Writing:690 with essay:8 Reading:800), and my Old SAT1 1480(Verbal:700, Math 780). I scored 800 in Math level2, and I took 5 APs this May. (Micro&Macro 4 each, Cal&Stat 5 , Physics 4).

I’m going to take Literature, Physics, Chem, Japanese and World History this Oct.&Nov. I don’t have GPA, so I thought it would give me a chance to show my academic level or something.

I’m serving at Student Ministry at my church as a Pub. Director, and i’m working as a volunteer at a school for mentally disabled students (it’s been 3 years since i first started working). I also translate letters for “Compassion” (an organization that connects poor children with sponsors abroad).

I’m definitely going to try Yale and Princeton (even if there’s little chance) but I just have no idea what my “safety” schools will be, nor what other schools i should apply to.
What are my chances to Yale and Princeton? And where whould I apply?
(I don’t expect to get answers here, but I’m really in need of advice.)

Thanks.

You are an interesting candidate and have a shot, although these colleges are reaches for about anyone, including you. For other schools we’d need to know what you are interested in studying, what kind of an environment you’d like, etc.
If I were you I’d post on the “Home Schooling and College” thread as well as the “Chances” thread.
Good luck!

Also do you care about money? Some schools won’t give aid to internationals.

Also - WHY do you want to apply to Yale and Princeton? They certainly do have good reputations, but how will they be able to serve you. Princeton Review’s site has an area called ‘Eye on Apply’ where there is a boy who decided to go to Harvard based on its reputation. That is probably not the best move. You will undoubtedly have a good experience at Yale/Princeton, but where do you think you will get a ‘great’ experience?

I recommend purchasing Princeton Review’s ‘Best 361 Colleges’ as it has some nice (sometimes useless though) anecdotes about schools you’ll most likely be interested in.

That really helped me to figure out what kind of kids go where, and quick information like average SAT/ACT scores of admitted students, size of the school, and dates to remember.

One way to slightly increase your chances, is to send a question about a program at a school you’re interested in to a professor - they will respond. In addition, you can explain to them where you’re coming from and ask them what the school can offer you.

Yale and Princeton are undoubtedly great schools - but make sure you have solid reasons as to why you want to attend other than their Ivy League status.
