i am currently a high school senior and am planning on doing premed (+ BME) in college. So far, I’ve been accepted into a pretty prestigious scholarship program at a public engineering school. This scholarship would give me more research, study-abroad, etc, opportunities. I was wondering though - would it be better to go to this school with this scholarship, or to a higher-ranked school (ie. Vanderbilt, UNC-Ch, etc) without a scholarship? Which of the two would look better when applying to medical schools?

Thanks for your help! :)

If you’re considering BME, consider Boston University’s ENGMEDIC program. More information about the program is available in the following link: http://www.bu.edu/bulletins/und/item19g5.html.

U of Rochester: they’d give you a good deal of money if you are a good student to come to their BME program, and the program is truly on the rise.

is JHU any good at pre-med? i heard lots of ppl drop out b/c of they give amazingly low marks?

mcortex: Johns Hopkins, Cornell, UCLA, and a few other universities have highly competitive pre-med programs, so while they have excellent pre-med programs, it is more challenging to get into the best medical schools. I haven’t heard of students dropping out of Johns Hopkins due to low marks, but it’s a possibility. Search for posts by user “sakky;” I find his posts about pre-med to be quite helpful in the undergrad college search process.
