Where should I go?

Right now I am a freshman at the University of Notre Dame. I want to transfer for a number of reasons. I guess the most important is that I want to major in either biomed engineering or bioengineering and the biomolecular engineering curriculum (which is part of the chemical engineering school) is not what I am interested in. I have talked to several professors who have all essentially said that if I wanted to pursue biomed in grad school biomolecular would work fine. However, I am much more interested in bio than chemistry and biomed programs have much more biology and classes that I would like whereas the biomolecular program is soooo much chemistry. I don’t want to approach it from the mechanical side here either and I have looked into that. So, it’s more about me wanting to BOTH pursue the major that I would like and take the classes that I am interested in. Other things that I do not like are the Catholic school atmosphere, South Bend (I really want to be by a city), the lack of diversity, the strictness, and just how I feel about the school. Also hate the same sex dorms and there is something weird about how guys and girls interact here. I’m pretty set on transferring, but I’m not sure where to go. Madison(Wisconson) or Johns Hopkins (hah. I don’t even think I could get in) seem fine. But I would GREATLY appreciate some advice. My parents are sort of mad about it and I haven’t discussed it with my counselor yet.
