where should i look to apply?

hi, i’m looking at colleges to apply to but we can’t go and visit them because my parents don’t want to pay that much until i get in to any, and their websites all pretty much say the same thing (one of the best, studious atmosphere, lots of stuff to do, etc)

So I was wondering if anybody could recommend some colleges I should look at? My current list is: yale (early action), wellesley, brown, columbia, pitt (safety).

i got 730-cr, 740 (780 the second time) -m, 730-w, ap calc freshman year, 3.9ishuw/4.4w, debate captain 2 years, gov school, etc, and i’m looking for match/reach colleges that have good IR programs, green/liberal campuses, a not too preppy/materialistic atmosphere, residential colleges would be nice if its big, near or in a big city.

i have visited a few colleges, and ive ruled out gt or princeton b/c it was too preppy.

so if anybody could help out, thanks!

Check out Macalester and Oberlin.

Tufts. In general, there’s a lot of room between your top choices and your safeties. And there are lots of school strong in IR. A little more info?

Johns Hopkins and University of Chicago.

Haverford and Macalester.

Georgetown–SFS program (best IR program in the country in my opinion)
UC Berkeley
