Where should I transfer to?

About me:

Will be a freshman when I apply for a transfer (I’m currently a part time student and I would be applying for a transfer next year)
Due to credits I’ve accumulated up to now, and credits that I will get next year, I’ll have ~45 when I apply
3.9 gpa (I don’t think it will slip)
Completed some junior and senior level physics courses
Attending a branch of a fairly well regarded state university - close to #85 in top 100 universities (not the flagship campus)
Various ECs, some of which are fairly impressive.

The Not So Good:
HS gpa is 3.6 (not bad, but not very impressive)
ACT of 30 (should I retake?)

I’m probably interested in majoring in economics, although I haven’t taken a ton of economics courses as of now. Where should I look into transferring? I’m not crazy about my campus or the lack of school name recognition (it’s close to #85 after all). Of course, when it comes time to transfer, I’ll articulate my reasons better.

Sorry for the typos and grammar.

Edit: I forgot to mention that it’s fairly important to me that they accept a good number of my credits, although I’m not going to let that be the end all be all.

I am not to sure in your case, but you really want to emphasize the in your essays why you want to transfer. Social and extracurricular reasons are perfectly acceptable, but make sure you emphasize strong academic reasons and how your major and career will benefit from it. Other than that I would not retake the ACT, but instead work on Ecs and that essay, show passion for one thing. I would suggest go for the top, perhaps Wharton, It has a ridiculous acceptance rate, but you never know. NYU is pretty good from what I’ve heard.

BUMP

I should also add that I might be interested in a physics major, although I’m not really sure yet.

where do you want the school…? east coast? west?
keep in mind the UC’s wont take transfers coming in with 45 units.
NYU is good. USC?

aim higher for IVY?

Location isn’t a huge deal for me. I want to aim as high as I realistically can. I’m probably not to keen on going to a UC because I’ve heard that OOS students get little financial aid. I’ve also heard that the FA situation at NYU isn’t too great.

Almost all of the external Wharton transfers came from a top-tier school, a good number from other ivy leagues. Even the ones who didn’t came from respected state schools (e.g. Michigan, Illinois). And I’m pretty sure HS records were pretty flawless too.
