<p>My D1 is going to be starting her freshman year this week. We would like to continue saving around $500 per month to finish with the college savings. We are thinking if we save this much that we will have enough to pay off the rest of what college will cost, if not loans will be in the picture but that is a later discussion. What I was wondering is what is a good place to invest this money? We currently are putting it in a 529 plan through our state but just wanting opinions if this is a good choice? What other options do we have? I know that we don’t have much time for the investment to mature but thought it couldn’t hurt to ask all of you what you thought.</p>
<p>I would put college savings in a CD - it is not worth taking a chance in anything else.</p>
<p>But can you add monthly to a CD? We want to keep saving $500 per month.</p>
