Has anyone sent their child to this program? If so, any comments?

Any suggestions for summer European programs which are personal challenge/growth oriented (not just language or cultural) for a 16 year old? She will spend part of the summer with her grandmother and great aunt on a small Greek Island… but wants to do something with people her own age the rest of the summer!

robyrm- My oldest did a Dragons program in India about 8 yrs ago. It was a huge growth experience. I know kids who have gone on their trips in recent years who have been very happy. Don’t think they do Europe though.
I also love NOLS. Also don’t think they do Europe.

One of my daughters did a semester-long Dragons trip to India, Nepal, Bhutan and Tibet in 2003. She had an amazing experience and we were extremely impressed by the organization. There were a variety of hiccups along the way - unrest in Katmandu, a badly sprained ankle, etc. - and they kept in close touch with us and made alternative arrangements that were even better than the original plan. We know at least three other kids who did one or more trips with them as well. They are first rate.

Thanks for this… her school had suggested both Where there be Dragons and NOLS- but she will probably not be in the US for most of the summer… The WTBD options for Asia look fantastic. Glad to hear people have such good things to say.

Anyone with experience with any high quality European program? Again, not so much classroom or just language- something a bit different maybe?
