Where to buy a new kitchen faucet

Another vote for Hansgrohe faucets from Costco. I first used them in 2 separate bathroom remodels and just put the Talis one mentioned by BunsenBurner into our newly remodeled kitchen. Our plumber was pretty impressed with them. You can order them online with free shipping and the prices are lower than anywhere else I checked.

I bought my Blanco sinks sight unseen from Amazon as they were the fastest to deliver. Anything but enamel or stainless would have done for me, and Blanco was highly regarded by CCers.

Amazon is our local startup. That said, we do our part to spread the joy. We buy all of our appliances at the local shop. The sales person is awesome. Ditto lighting - we bought fixtures for the bath locally. Got our Toto toilets from Terry Love - the Toto guru (learned about him from an East Coast CCer; Terry lives about 5 miles from our place  ). I think I am giving enough business to local non-Amazon folks. We will eventually buy a Mirror TV again. They are made near the Boeing plant north of us.

I own a plumbing company - even if a faucet looks the same the insides can be 100% different. Online retailers may not adhere to local codes either (we have strict codes in our state and we have had to decline installing some materials because they don’t comply). Big box get lower prices because they cheapen the insides. I recommend Fergusons.com or if you are having a plumber install it we have had great success with Wolverine Brass products.

I think I have this one…

Mine is 6 years old.

Here is the online Costco link.

Mine is NOT the low rider Allegro. It looks like mine isn’t online.

The Talis is similar.

Like others…our plumber said it was a great set!

I second build.com, and have a secret for getting a discount. Create an account and put the item in your cart. Then wait a day. They will contact you with a “helpful” service call, and you can bargain them down. The more items you buy at once, the better discount you get.

When we built our house (17 years ago), the plumber we used had the same view as Threebeans (post #22) and suggested we avoid buying from places like Costco. We have a Chicago Faucet in our kitchen, which has served us well. We bought it at a showroom that only sold productions for kitchens and bathrooms.

^^ Well, all I can say is that our (highly regarded) plumbing contractor was impressed with the quality of all of the faucets we purchased from Costco. Of course, he didn’t seem to be in the business of trying to sell faucets himself which may have something to do with other plumber’s criticism of the ones from Costco. He did caution us against the ones at Lowes and Home Depot, however.

We don’t have a Costco in the area - so it’s possible they’re providing the same faucet and professional outlets.

You can order from Costco online.

Our three times broken Moen kitchen faucet came from the plumbing place that specialized in kitchen and bath things. Like i said…after the third replacement…I got sick of it. I should add…it was very pricey…more pricey than the Hansgroh…by about double.

No faucets here from HD or Lowes.

@bookreader Definitely check them out in person. Many of these companies keep getting purchased by other companies and have their manufacturing moved. When we purchased about four years ago we compared Grohe and Hansgrohe. Same family. https://www.houzz.com/discussions/2591299/hansgrohe-vs-grohe Ended up with Grohe at the time.

The Hansgrohe from Costco was a piece of cake to install. We have Grohe in the shower that leaked, but that cartridge was a piece of cake to replace. I don’t think we will install anything made by Moen after learning how terrible they are to install/fix.

We have repaired our Moen consistently every 3 years. The only part we haven’t replaced are the supply tubes and body. Cost = 0, hassle = much.

We never bothered to call Moen for “free” repairs. Our vacation time is too valuable to be spent on babysitting a plumber on a weekday. Cost of doing it ourselves was minimal. Hassle was still significant. Especially locating the parts and trying to get the stuck cartridges out. Bad design.

I bought a Hansgrohe bathroom faucet in-store from Costco and had to replace it but Hansgrohe didn’t have the same faucet on their website. Sometimes they make faucets exclusively for Costco.
My local Costco doesn’t carry the bath faucets in-store anymore and I had to get it through Costco.com but made the return in-store.

Lowe’s and Home Depot have higher end items on their web sites. I love the fact that they post reviews.

I just bought a Detla kitchen faucet from Home Depot and a Kohler toilet from Lowe’s. I also ordered several kitchen cabinet knobs to try to match the new champagne bronze kitchen faucet.

I’ve had good luck with Delta.

Apparently Delta now owns Hansgrohe which is their premier line.

Thanks so much for the advice everyone. I greatly appreciate it.

I worked for a home remodeling company. They did not sell plumbing products, but worked closely with plumbing subcontractors. We were always advised by plumbers that items from the big box stores definitely were not made to the same standards as those sold to plumbers. The other thing to keep in mind, however, is while a plumber will usually add a mark-up on products they sell, they also typically cover labor to repair problems discovered (at least for a limited time). If you are handy and can install and repair yourself, and have the time, ordering direct may not be an issue, but for those of us who don’t trust our plumbing expertise, I’d rather have the one who installs the item, to be responsible for that item should it have problems during a warranty period.
