Does anyone know where to get uncooked corned beef brisket with spice-pak inside ? We live near Boston. The kind that gives you the spice pak tastes so much better but seemed to have disappeared in the markets. Any suggestions will to greatly appreciated.

I buy mine at Costco (it does come with a spice pack, but it is not inside the brisket!). Corned beef and cabbage - yum! I’m hungry :)

If you don’t get a better answer before then, most supermarkets sell the vacuum packed already pickled ones for St Patrick’s Day. Somewhere on the label should be info about the company and how to order online.
If they don’t include that on their label they are too stupid to shop with… what does one line of print cost when you are printing the whole silly label?

Indeed, Corn Beef and Cabbage and a pint of golden ale eg, Stella Artois is one of life’s simple and greatest pleasure.

Where beside Costco sells Corned beef with spice pak ?

Kroger…

Stop & Shop. If it isn’t there now it will be soon.

Does it have the mandatory spice pak in it ?

I agree, the spice pack should be mandatory! May be it is mandatory in WA, since I also found it at Safeway (had a spice pack, too). I guess you might not have Safeways near Boston… Wait, aren’t you in California?

If it is not available in the stores near you, I’d check if any reputable steak places sell it (Omaha Steaks, Harris Ranch, etc.)

thanks for suggestion. I am transplant from northern calif :(

Corned Beef – brine cured brisket

or

Corn Beef – Corn fed beef?

Check any kosher meat market.

LFWB it’s the kind that usually goes with cabbage!

Try Savenor’s Market Cdad–best meat in Boston. There’s a store on Charles St. in Boston and another in Cambridge.

I usually can get it at Sam’s Club. with the mandatory spice pack.
wicked good, one of the best winter meals evah. no need to wait for March 17th

The grocery stores here carry it. I’ve never seen corned beef sold without having the spice packet.

Swanson’s corned beef came plain at local market basket. Went to other upscale places in new hampshire, still no spice pak.

It’s just not the same without the spice pak, you’ll agree.

I will try Savenor’s in Boston. Good to know Sam’s has it too. Thank you.

** what kind of beer goes with corned beef and cab ?

I looked at my market yesterday. Corned beef but no separate spice package.

Guinness, of course. ;)

I am happy again. Common everyday Market Basket carries corned beef with spice pak. I can tell you it’s a whole level different if you put in the spice pak when you cook it.

Very tasty. Can’t wait to cook it again.

There’s only 1 problem. I might have stewed it too long (3 hr low heat). The beef fell apart, like shredded beef when I cut it. Or maybe it has to do with the fact I put it into cold water and bring to boil at same time. Any thoughts on how to improve this ?

Did you slice it across the grain? If not, it will end up in strings and be much tougher. I don;t know why, I just know it makes a difference.

I look for the eye round cut when I buy mine - much tougher to find than the flat brisket cut, but much more tender.
