Got rejected from business school and got rejected from all majors within. I want to work in Accounting or HR? Zero change to reapply and get in. Where should I go from there?

What do most people do if they get rejected from undergraduate business school?

If you are really dead set on biz then I would spend a year or two at CC then reapply to business programs of your choice.

Are you an enrolled undergrad now? That is, are you at a uni where the undergrad business program is limited to junior and senior internal applicants, or are you a rising freshman?

Also, why do you prefer accounting and HR?

I’m assuming that you are a sophomore who applied to get into business school & got rejected due to grades.

Some schools allow you to retake the prerequisites for better grades, but if they told you you had 0 chance, then I guess they don’t allow that or it wouldnt improve your grades enough…

Most people apply to another major that is easier to get into. Your advising/career center can help you both figure out what other career paths you are interested in and also what majors outside the school of business you can get into.

Also, an economics degree is usually outside the school of business, but can often lead to many of the same jobs as a business major. So maybe check that out.

My advise: THINK about what you want and then TALK to your advisor/career councelor.

Starstruck, although I agree with post number 4 by Whatdidyou, I have said time and again, NOT to go to a school for a major that you don’t immediately get admitted to.! I have sadly seen your situation a lot. I don’t know why people never learn or even consider the possibility. Now you have some choices:

First , you can go into another major, which is what most folks do in your situation.
Secondly, you can try to transfer, but I would assume that you only have a medicore GPA and transferring won’t be a good option.
Third, You can spend a year retaking courses in order to pull up your GPA. This isn’t as easy as it sounds. Moreover, some schools don’t change the lower grade but average the grades instead, which won’t work for you.
Finally, you can start a community college from scratch, which is questionable at best.

You got yourself into a bind, now the best situation is to try to make lemonade from the lemons that you currently have…
