I scored the following:

CR 590
M 590
W 650

Essay was an 8.

I wasn’t planning on applying to any big colleges, but now I feel as if my state’s top colleges (Florida -> UF, New College) won’t accept me. Where can I apply that seems most appropriate with the 1820 SAT score?

I am a junior in honors program at my school, in the top 10%. Don’t see how it’s relevant, but I know someone’s going to ask.

What’s relevant is what you are looking for. Size? Location? Major? Merit Aid?

I would like to live in a city, suburban, or college town. Rural is out of the question. Location: California or East Coast. Major: Psychology, which is offered at every college I believe (I’ve only found 1 that didn’t offer Psychology; it was online).

Can you pay full price? In California, about $50k/ year? If so, consider Santa Clara, Loyola Marymount, Whittier, University of the Redlands, maybe Occidental. Check out the “how do I stack up” feature on college board. Quartile matters.

You still have time to retake the SATs seeing as though you’re only a junior

you could always apply to some SAT optional schools

You need to look into Clark University in Worcester, Massachusetts.

Your SAT scores are within their middle 50% and your grades sound like they’re excellent. Since you’re interested in New College of Fl, you must not mind a quirky, non-mainstream student body, and Clark students have a reputation for being a little non-mainstream but not too much so. it’s school motto is, “Challenge Convention. Change Our World.”

Their Psychology Department is one of their strongest departments (as is Geography). They claim to have good research opportunities for undergrads.

Clark is one of the schools highlighted by “Colleges That Change lives.” They are also reputed to be good at giving money - both scholarships and need based, and that turned out to be true for my son. (He applied last year but is attending somewhere else).

And by the way - those scores aren’t as bad as you make them sound! I think you should study and retake them in May or June!
